Book Review & Giveaway: Geek Girl 4 – All That Glitters by Holly Smale

Geek Girl is a series aimed at girls around 11-15 years old. The series started with the book Geek Girl which was the number 1 bestselling YA fiction title in the UK in 2013 and was also shortlisted for many major book awards.

Now book number 4 is here  All That Glitters. The series is about Harriet Manners and in this book she is starting sixth form with high hopes for new friends and like-minded students. Many things are going to be different now but will it be in a good way?

The books are very well suited for many young ladies with plenty of interesting aspects of Harriet’s life. She’s a different, clever and refreshing character. She can be quite naive at times but seems to learn from her mistakes. The books cover topics like friendship, love, school, family and bullying  typical coming of age themes that you love to read about when you are a teenager.

Holly Smale’s story telling is realistic (not everything goes to plan and there are consequences) and her characters have a very real feel to them, whether they are likeable or not.

All That Glitters is a funny and surprising story and a great addition to the Geek Girl series. It’s a page-turner that will make you laugh out loud. It’s a perfect book (series) for young adults but can definitely be enjoyed by grownups that are young at heart too!
