Book Review & Giveaway: Marge and the Great Train by Isla Fisher

Most of us might know Isla Fisher from her acting career which she began when she was a child. She’s been working in TV and film for the past 25 years and we’ve seen her in things like Confessions of a Shopaholic, ‘Home & Away’, The Great Gatsby and Wedding Crashers and many more. I love her as an actress and am very pleased that she’s now writing children’s book too! She’s one busy lady with being a mum of three too.

Motherhood gave her the opportunity to indulge in making up stories at bedtime for her children every night since they were born and her series of Marge books are a reminder of all the fun they have at bedtime reading books and sharing stories.

We’re celebrating the release of the third book in the Marge series by the lovely comedian and Hollywood actress it was published yesterday!Book Review & Giveaway: Marge and the Great Train by Isla Fisher A Mum Reviews

The first two books in the series are Marge in Charge and Marge and the Pirate Baby. Each book has three stories which make for perfect bedtime reading as you can read one at a time.

Who is Marge? (Great name by the way!) Marge is a mischievous babysitter with rainbow hair who loves to make a mess and bend the rules. She also tells wild stories and she’s the best babysitter in the whole world. In the third book, Marge and the Great Train Rescue, Marge is off!

“Things do SOMETIMES go off the rails when Marge is around but Jakey and Jemima don’t mind that. After all, no one else could rescue a train, help Jakey’s wobbly tooth or cause chaos at the zoo!”

All three books, illustrated with wit and warmth by Eglantine Ceulemans. are lots of fun for children to read on their own (aged around 6-10) or for younger children to read with their parents. My kids are young but my eldest enjoys books like this one read out loud to her at bedtime. I love the humour and the funny and charming stories. I love that Marge is mischievous and causes a lot of mayhem! I also like the babysitting aspect as I used to work as a nanny.

I look forward to reading more books by Isla Fisher in the future!

You can by Isla Fisher’s Marge books in all good book shops that sell children’s books and online from Amazon.co.uk.
