Book Review & Giveaway: The Sons of Scarlatti – Infinity Drake Book 1 by John McNally

John McNally is a screenwriter (BBC, Sony, Aardman) and Infinity Drake: The Sons of Scarlatti is his first novel.

Infinity Drake: The Sons of Scarlatti is the first in a series and is an action packed book about Finn, our hero, who gets involved in his mad scientist uncle Al’s secret mission to destroy and escaped doomsday bio-weapon, the Scarlatti Wasp, before it destroys life on earth. The plan is to shrink a military team to take down the wasps but Finn gets shrunken too and has to carry the weight of his planet’s survival on his now tiny shoulders.

The book is full of adventure, humour and science too. It’s thrilling and exciting and the action never stops! The main character Finn is intelligent and brave and very likeable and the other characters are very interesting too. The story is original and funny and a great read for boys and girls aged 11-15.

My test reader is a 12-year-old boy who is quite into reading. He loved Infinity Drake: The Sons of Scarlatti and would not put it down. He said it was really exciting, different and funny, too. He read it really quickly even though it’s quite a long book. He’s very excited that there will be more books from the same series.

Here are a few more opinions on the book:

“Funny, thrilling, brain-punchingly good.” – Derek Landy, author and screenwriter
