Comvita Medihoney Skin Care Products for My Toddler’s Eczema

My just turned 3-year-old has had eczema for at least six months now. She gets sore patches on the classic areas her wrists, the fold of her arms and the back of her knees. She also has a dry patch on her cheek and sometimes flares up around her chest and neck.

We’ve tried a few different creams and so far we’ve come across a few that work but they all seem to just work for a few weeks, then her skin gets used to the cream and we need to try something else instead. It’s strange!Comvita Medihoney Skin Care Products for My Toddler's Eczema A Mum Reviews

One of our new brands is Comvita Medihoney that I wanted to try again after having successfully used the Comvita Medihoney Natural Skintensive Cream before on dry skin patches.

This range includes lots of products that are suitable for dry and sensitive skin and they all contain Medihoney medical grade Manuka honey.

The Natural Skintensive Cream is an intensively hydrating cream that you can use daily to treat and manage very dry, itchy and eczema prone skin. As well as Medihoney, it contains rich plant butters that nourish the skin. I really like this cream and it’s gentle enough for the whole family. It works well and sinks in quickly.Comvita Medihoney Skin Care Products for My Toddler's Eczema A Mum Reviews

Sometimes I prefer something thicker that protects the skin even more and that’s why I was so curious to try the Natural Derma Cream with Aloe very and Chamomile to soothe red and itchy skin. My daughter tends to scratch her eczema patches so anything that can help soothe as well as moisturise will get my attention. The Derma Cream does that and is more ointment like than the Skintensive Cream. However, because it sits on the skin for longer, it also attracts fluff so when I put it on my daughter’s face or wrists, the areas get fluffy from her clothes and other fabrics. It’s better used on areas that are covered with (non fluffy!) clothes.

Comvita have lots of tips on how to care for your skin if you have eczema.

They also make an interesting product called Wound Gel that you can use on broken skin and areas that have been scratched. It promotes wound healing and reduces the risk of infection. I’ve tried this on cuts on myself and it seems to help. I keep it on hand in case my daughter scratches her skin badly to help heal the skin faster. It naturally cleans wounds of bacteria and dead tissue too. It’s very clever!
