Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review – 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala

Until the other week, I had never had a ready meal! I’ve had plenty of frozen pizzas and vegetarian bakes/burger but never a proper ready meal. A while ago, I tried and reviewed vegetarian sausages, kievs and falafels from Goodlife and was really impressed with the quality and flavour of the products.

Life is busy and I definitely do not have the time or energy to cook from scratch every day. For the days when it’s difficult to fit everything in, products like the ones I just mentioned are brilliant. Goodlife products have very impressive ingredients’ lists and I’ve not spotted anything that I wouldn’t put in a recipe myself which is one of the reasons I love this brand.Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews

I was very pleased to hear that Goodlife have launched more new products to their range. The new ones are two delicious ready meals:

  • 3 Bean Chilli full of protein with spicy tomato, red and white kidney beans, pinto beans and sweetcorn and served with cauliflower rice.
  • Vegetable Masala packed with big chunks of sweet potato and red peppers in a creamy coconut milk sauce with tomatoes and a delicate blend of Indian spices and served with cauliflower rice.

Both meals are easy to prepare either in the microwave or the oven. Naturally, the microwave is much faster so that’s how I cooked them. After removing the outer packaging and piercing the film, you put the meal in the microwave on 800W for 4 minutes, then take it out, peel the film back to give the two compartments a stir, put the film back on and then heat it for another 4 minutes. You leave it for 1 minute before plating up and enjoying your easy meal. Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews

Being a ready meal novice, I forgot that I wasn’t supposed to peel the film off when I cooked the Masala but it still cooked beautifully! You can see what it looks like frozen in the photo below.Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews

I’d never had cauliflower rice before but was delicious and went so well with both these meals. It’s a great way to up the vegetable servings in your meal! Both meals contain 3 of your 5 a day, are high in protein and fibre but low in calories. The chilli is low in fat and vegan too. Both meals are gluten-free.Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews

I’m really impressed with these meals! I always expected ready meals to not have much flavour but these were both yummy. I cook my own vegetarian chilli quite often but this was different (which is good!) as it didn’t have any soy mince in it and had a lovely smokey flavour to it. It was really nice!Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews

The Masala was great too! I don’t cook curry as often so it made a nice change to have a tasty one easily ready for me to enjoy on a busy day. I had mine for lunches usually I just have sandwiches but these meals are much more nutritious.

I definitely recommend them to busy people who still want to eat healthy meals packed with vegetables even on the busiest of days. I would happily serve these as an evening meal for my husband and I too. He loves chilli and curry!

I’m definitely buying these again they’re great to have in the freezer ready for that next time you don’t feel like cooking. So convenient and delicious! Goodlife have done a brilliant job redefining ready meals!

They’re available from Morrisons and Iceland Food Warehouse and cost £2 each. For more information and recipe inspiration, visit the Goodlife website.Goodlife Vegetarian Meals Review - 3 Bean Chilli & Vegetable Masala A Mum Reviews
