How Safe Is Your Street?

CORGI HomePlan’s new “How Safe Is Your Street” campaign is all about encouraging people to look out for their neighbours. There could be people living right next to you who are struggling and could really benefit from an occasional visit or the offer of a helping hand. These could be elderly or vulnerable people or just someone who needs your help sometimes.

We have really good relationships with our neighbours on either side and across the road and will help each other with DIY and gardening jobs, look out for each other and accept deliveries for one another. Whoever’s out first in the morning on bin day will take the bins in little things like that really make a difference. The other week, we were getting our new bathtub delivered and because the delivery driver couldn’t come into the house for legal reasons, I asked my neighbour for a hand to carry the bath in as I could not do it on my own. Knowing your neighbours and being friendly with them creates a happier and safer community.

The CORGI name is heavily associated with safety and they take that responsibility very seriously. As part of the “How Safe Is Your Street” campagin, they have created an online hub packed with information on how to get involved and with lots of practical tips on how to help your neighbours. There’s everything from ideas on how to play a bigger part in your community to how to break the ice with neighbours.

Check out the hub linked above for more information and don’t miss their blog post about how to be a good neighbour.
