Summer Infant Cuddle Bug Review – A Slumber Buddies Toy & Sleep Aid

Slumber Buddies are lovely toys for bedtime by the brand Summer Infant. They’re sweet and help create a tranquil environment for your little ones at bedtime using white noise, lullabies and/or soothing light. The newest addition to the range is the adorable Cuddle Bug which is an interactive toy that provides a multi-sensory experience that can help babies and toddler to learn to self-soothe at night.

It’s a turquoise, very cute caterpillar character with a sweet sleepy face that your child can hug gently to let him play three different sounds choose between lullabies, heartbeat or nature sounds. At the same time the belly segments glow softly in time to the sounds.Summer Infant Cuddle Bug Review - A Slumber Buddies Toy & Sleep Aid A Mum Reviews

The Cuddle Bug is so soft and cuddly the “fur” is so smooth and soft! The legs and body are made with a mixture of satin and textured fabric to encourage sensory development and it’s so cosy to hold.Summer Infant Cuddle Bug Review - A Slumber Buddies Toy & Sleep Aid A Mum Reviews

The sound machine is hidden inside the Cuddle Bug’s belly and you get to it by opening a Velcro closure on the underside of the toy. There are different settings: Off, 15, 30 or 45 minutes auto shut-off and a 30 second play mode that allows your little one to interact with the Cuddle Bug when awake. The different settings can be hard to see inside the toy, but you soon learn where the different modes are.Summer Infant Cuddle Bug Review - A Slumber Buddies Toy & Sleep Aid A Mum Reviews

Both my girls (aged three-and-a-half years and 13 months) love the Cuddle Bug! They play with it in the day and I set it to the longer timer to encourage my youngest to sleep at nap time. White noise is a very useful tool to help babies sleep but it’s most successful if you introduce it as soon as possible after your baby is born. The Cuddle Bug is suitable from birth so you can start the sleep association straight away.

We had a couple of different white noise machines that we used for both girls when they were babies so they still have the association of white noise and sleep. Those were not as cuddly as this one! The girls love lullabies for sleeping too so this is quite perfect for them.Summer Infant Cuddle Bug Review - A Slumber Buddies Toy & Sleep Aid A Mum Reviews

My eldest loves how cute and soft the Cuddle Bug is and my youngest loves the soft and rhythmical light show. Both love pressing the buttons!

The Cuddle Bug costs £19.99 and is available here.
