5 Different Ways to Exfoliate for Brighter & Fresher Skin This Spring

At this time of year, my skin always feels a bit dull. The winter weather and central heating air never help and I always look to freshen up my skincare to brighten up my skin ready for the sunshine and spring.

I find that exfoliating is the best way to quickly improve the texture, feel and look of your skin and there are a few different ways you can do this depending on your preferences and skin type.5 Different Ways to Exfoliate for Brighter & Fresher Skin This Spring A Mum Reviews

  • The Classic Face Scrub

A regular kind of coarser face scrub that physically buffs away dead skin can work really well if your skin is not sensitive. There are lots of different types of facial scrubs available but stay away from the ones with synthetic beads as they end up in the ocean later on. I really like St Ives Daily Microdermabrasion Scrub as it’s really gentle and can be used daily if needed.5 Different Ways to Exfoliate for Brighter & Fresher Skin This Spring A Mum Reviews

  • The Powder Exfoliant

Powder exfoliants work really well at freshening up the skin but are much more gentle than scrubs. A really popular choice is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant which is brilliant. It’s a unique rice-based enzyme powder that micro-exfoliates dulling debris and makes skin beautifully smooth, soft and bright. It’s gentle enough for all skin types and makes a noticeable difference straight away. It’s a real treat for dull skin!5 Different Ways to Exfoliate for Brighter & Fresher Skin This Spring A Mum Reviews

  • The Glycolic Peel

Glycolic acid is a chemical way to reveal fresh, new skin. You can get gels but the easiest way to apply is to use glycolic acid exfoliating pads like the NIP+FAB Exfoliating Facial Pads it’s a bit of a cult product. The pads are soaked in exfoliating glycolic acid that helps retexture and resurface skin while also containing ingredients to tone, moisturise and soothe skin for a bright and smooth result. I bought these recently and they work really well.

  • The Hot Cloth Cleanser

Using a hot face cloth with your cleanser is a great way to turn any cleansing gel, wash, balm or oil into an exfoliating and pampering treatment. A popular choice is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish which is a lovely and natural high-end skincare product.

  • The Power Tool

An electronic cleansing brush like the Clarisonic System is another way to buff the skin and facial brushes are a great way to thoroughly cleanse the skin. You have to keep the brush heads fresh and clean too though. You can get manual face brushes but like electric toothbrushes, they powered brushes work better.
