We try to limit the amount of screen time our children have but there’s no denying how good apps can be to help children learn new skills and practice skills they need for school.

Edplus is a new free app which helps children learn their time tables by incorporating fun games. Your child needs to answer some maths questions correctly before they can choose a game to play. You earn points that can be exchanged for games of your choice, many of which are educational and require skill too. It’s challenging but fun at the same time which is exactly what children need to stay motivated.

The app also features advanced English, Maths and Science which can be purchased separately.

Edplus was developed by a world-renowned mathematician, Professor Francis Brown who is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. The app’s technology uses an algorithm that creates a learning pathway unique to each child, adapting and improving as they play.

Edplus incorporates an adaptive that permits a more fluid and personalised approach.

“A simple example is if a child shows that they know 2 x 7, the algorithm might introduce the related question 7 x 2. This might sound obvious, but the national curriculum only expects children to know their seven times table by the end of year four, some two years after their two times table.”

My eldest daughter is 5 years old and loves playing on Edplus. She loves to learn new things and loves playing games too so it’s a great combination for her. The way the app works gets her excited about answering the maths questions and choosing a game to play afterwards.

From a parent’s point of view, I think that the balance is right between learning and playing just right to keep kids motivated while they learn. I’m sure it will be even more useful for my daughter when they do more maths at school as she gets older.

The app is now available to download from Google Play Store, App Store and Amazon Apps.

We received access to the full app in exchange for this Edplus App Review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
