Orchard Toys has launched two new fun games for Easter that we have been testing out and we love them both. The new games from Orchard Toys are called Goose on the Loose! and Egg Surprise.

Let’s start with Goose on the Loose! This is one of Orchard Toys bigger games and a great family board game to enjoy together. It’s a colour matching game with where the players are farmers, and the aim is to round up the geese that are on the loose.

You need to collect a 3D goose of each colour for your small board as you make your way around the big board but if you land on a colour that you already have a goose for, then that goose will escape! Get into character, shout “Honk” when collecting a goose and “Goose on the loose!” when one escapes. When you get to the end of the board, your geese are finally safe and the player with the most geese on their board is the winner.

It’s a really fun game that my children love to play and us adults too. My youngest (just turned 3 years old) grasped it quickly and explained the rules to grandad when he came for a visit. The game helps develop personal and social skill and helps reinforce colour recognition skills while enhancing counting skills. Recommended from 4 years+ but my youngest understands all the rules already – a great game for the whole family!

Next up, Egg Surprise which is an Easter-themed counting game for 2-4 players. It’s recommended for children aged 3-6 years old and all three of my girls love playing it, even my 8-year-old. It’s one of Orchard Toys Mini games so a great small size for taking with you when travelling or visiting family for the holidays.

The aim of the game is to collect Easter eggs which children love doing, of course! Turn all the cards over so that the bunnies face up, then spin the carrot spinner and choose a bunny card that shows the same number of spots as the number the carrot points to on the spinner. Turn over your chosen card to reveal if you found an Easter egg and, if yes, how many. It could be none, one, two or three. The winner is the player with the most of eggs at the end of the game.

This game is quick to set up and learn and helps develop hand-eye coordination, number and counting skills and encourages observational skills too.

Both these games are lots of fun and a great way to enjoy some sugar-free alternatives for Easter treats this Easter!

You can find these games and many more from www.orchardtoys.com and other good toy retailers.
