I’ve always loved crafting but haven’t done much sewing and other needle work in my life. I’ve always felt that I’m too impatient to sew neatly enough so haven’t really tried to learn any of these kinds of crafts. This autumn, I’ve decided to try some new crafts though and challenge myself to learn some new skills. Turns out that it’s easy to learn embroidery and cross stitch with the wonderful kits available from Paraffle.

The brand makes kits that are beautifully designed with sustainability, quality and conscious crafting at their heart. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner, a seasoned stitcher, or somewhere in between.

These kits offer not just gorgeous designs and a mindful activity, but also that amazingly satisfying feeling of making something yourself, with your own hands. Mastering a new kind of stitch and watching your design come together is a lovely feeling.

Paraffle Review: My Experience with Paraffle Craft Kits

Another reason why I hadn’t ever given embroidery or cross stitch a go was that I had no idea what I needed or where to start. The kits from Paraffle take this daunting feeling away as they give beginners everything they need for a project. The kits include all the materials, needles, and stitch guides. There are also step-by-step video tutorials and online tips available for extra support.

I have tried a few sets from Paraffle now, the Victoria Street 6” Embroidery Kit and the Snowy Owl Cross Stitch Kit.

Paraffle Victoria Street 6” Embroidery Kit (£25)

This design is inspired by Edinburgh’s famously colourful Victoria Street. I was drawn to it as I would really love to visit Edinburgh. Plus the colours looked fantastic! This design also brings a little piece of Paraffle’s home city to the embroidery hoop which is lovely!

It’s designed for improvers but I decided to do it as a beginner and it went quite well. I mainly followed the guide but also improvised a bit with some of the house as I’d accidentally continued with the same colour when I shouldn’t have… And I freestyled completely with the French knots for the greenery. It all worked out in the end and I’m very happy with my first embroidery project!

Paraffle Snowy Owl Cross Stitch Kit (£15)

I picked this one as my youngest daughter loves owls! It’s a perfect set for beginners. It’s small so not overwhelming at all – I finished mine in a day which felt like a great first cross stitch project. It was fun to do and looks nice on display!
