Refresh Your Bedroom for 2022 – My Bedroom Update Ideas for a Sanctuary at Home

This year, I have decided to focus on my health more and invest time into things that make me feel healthier and happier. Lockdowns, home-schooling and simply being a working mother of three young children has meant that I have not done enough for myself and my own well-being.

It’s time for some life updates! I have already started a few atomic habits to kick-start this – I’m walking more, I’m reading more and I’m drinking more water.

Another thing that is important to my well-being is my home. Clutter and mess drain me and make me feel stressed while a more minimalist and well organised home makes me feel happy and calm. I’m still working on a few areas around our house and one room I am keen to make some updates to is our bedroom.

Now that my youngest is not a baby anymore and will hopefully sleep in her own room soon, it’s time to make the master bedroom a room that’s purely for my husband and me. In this article, I will share some update ideas that I would like to do to make the bedroom a sanctuary at home. If you too are looking for ideas for how to refresh your bedroom for 2022, read on…

  • The Bed

The bed is the main piece of furniture in a bedroom, naturally, and it needs to be one that works well for you. Our bedframe itself is fine but it’s definitely time to update the mattress. I have done a lot of research about the options, and it looks like a memory foam mattress would be a great choice for us. Sleeping well is so important to our health and investing in a good mattress is money well spent.

Green Walls
  • The Colours

We live in a newbuild, and they come with white walls. I don’t mind white walls at all but in a bedroom, something darker would be cosier and mores stylish. I’m looking to add a dark green feature wall to the wall behind our bed and think that a bold colour like this will add a lot to the feel of our bedroom. I will also update our bedding with a duvet cover set that complements the dark green.

  • The Details

There are a few other details that need updating. Until recently, I had my toddler’s cot bed next to my side of the bed and now I need to replace that with a bedside table for me and both my husband and I need some bedside lamps. I would like to go for something stylish and bold that will provide a good light for reading books and that would add a hotel look to the room. You can find many bedroom furniture ideas online and find them on sites like Furniture Vogue

Of course, I will do my absolute best to keep the room clutter free and clean at all times as this makes a huge difference to how your bedroom feels. It needs to be an inviting room that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you enter it.

I’m so looking forward to making these updates to our bedroom over the next couple of months. I have started narrowing down the mattress choices and already know which colour paint I would like to use. I still need to browse bedside tables and lamps but I’m sure I will find some suitable options that we love soon.

Updates to your home can make a big difference to your life and how you feel. Having a bedroom that makes you feel happy and relaxed is sure to improve your sleep, your health and maybe even your relationship if you’re sharing this room with a partner. A room that you have carefully designed and planned, choosing each item with great care, is likely to be a room that you will want to keep nice too so it’s less likely to become messy. This in turn, will be beneficial to your happiness levels.
