World Book Day: Original Reads or Modern Films?

World Book Day is coming up this week (5th of March) and I’ve got my hands on this wonderful infographic from Fancy Dress Ball that compares children’s books and the films based on them to see if parents, book experts and film experts prefer the original book or the modern film.

I mostly like it when someone makes a film out of a book I have enjoyed but sometimes the results are terrible. I always try to read the book before watching the film so that I can read the story the way my brain interprets it, without seeing images or actors from the film.

Have you read the books and seen the film adaptations in the infographic below? In general, I prefer Roald Dahl’s books to the films but I did enjoy Tim Burton’s version of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.  I grew up watching the Disney films The Jungle Book and Bambi so even though I haven’t read the books that they are based on, I think I would still prefer the films because they are so nostalgic to me.

Click on the infographic to get to the Fancy Dress Ball website where you can see it in full size. On the website you can also find lots of great costumes based on literary characters (and many more)!
