I do a lot of work at my desk on my computer but, until recently, I’ve been sat on what my husband refers to as a children’s chair. It was actually a small desk chair from IKEA but it wasn’t the most comfortable of things to sit on for long.

We are hoping to move in the not so distant future and when we do, we’ll have a dedicated home office but for now it’s just a desk in my eldest daughter’s room. It works for now and it’s just gotten a bit better because I have a new office chair from Lakeland Furniture.

It’s the Chester Padded Office Chair in Vintage Brown (also available in Black and Grey) and it is a very stylish and slightly retro looking office chair that is great for my needs. It looks great and it’s comfortable to sit in. As you know it’s important to maintain good posture in the office.

I really appreciate the padded seat and back rest after sitting on a hard plastic chair for a few years! The cushions are fitted onto the ergonomically moulded frame to provide support to your lower back. It’s also got armrests with removable faux leather details which are comfortable to rest my arms on. It feels very ergonomic which is just what I need for my long days at my desk.

Other features include a gas lift and tilt. The adjustable tilt tension mechanism allows you to increase or decrease the tension by easily turn the knob to match your body weight. This also allows you to rock comfortably without any effort. The tilt does not lock into position.

The chair has a five-pointed chrome base which is fitted with nylon castors for easy movement around your working area. The wheels slide fine on our carpeted floor and the chair is easy for me to move around.

Another detail that I really like is the handle on the back. It’s perfect for hanging things on, like a jumper if you get too hot. It’s the little things!

The faux leather has a bit of a pattern to it which is quite good as it means any stains — I have a toddler! — would be quite well camouflaged.

For me, this chair is such an upgrade! I finally have a chair that’s nice and spacious, well-padded, comfortable and ergonomic. The fact that it looks lovely is a bonus too. It will look great in our home office when we finally move house.

The Chester Padded Office Chair costs £99.99 and I think that’s quite good value for the quality. It was easy to assemble too!
