5 Money Saving Tips That Will Also Make You Healthier
Saving money and being healthier — aren’t these things we’d all like to achieve? Especially now in the summer when many of us would love to afford a holiday and feel and look our best at the same time. In this post, I’m focussing on ways to save money that will also make you healthier. Two birds with one stone!
- Cook from Scratch
One of the best way to save money and look after your body is to cook your meals yourself from scratch using fresh ingredients and avoiding overpriced ready meals that are full of strange ingredients and avoiding eating out too often as restaurant food is usually high in fat and salt and naturally costs more money too.
- Ditch Bad (and Expensive) Habits
We all know that smoking cigarettes and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol is very bad for our health and our bank balance too. Now is the time to cut down on your alcohol consumption and give up smoking cigarettes if you’re a smoker. If you find it difficult, vaping can be a good option to gradually cut down the amount of nicotine you inhale.
- Be More Active
Are you driving to and from work every day? If so, this probably means that you are spending a lot of money on petrol and parking and are not being as physically active as you would if you were walking to the bus stop or the train station. Travelling by public transport is usually more affordable too and offers you the option to relax a bit or read a book while travelling.
- Drink More Water
Water is the best thing that we can drink and most of us could do with drinking more of it. Try to drink at least two litres per day and see how much better you feel. Drinking plenty of water should also make you less inclined to mistake thirst for hunger, meaning you’ll spend less money on snacks as you’ll eat less when you’re properly hydrated.
- Sleep More
Decent and enough sleep is essential for us to be healthy and we should all try to get our eight hours per night. How can sleeping more save you money? If you go to bed earlier instead of watching TV for example, you’ll save money on electricity and if you enjoy a snack and a drink when you’re watching your shows, you’ll save there too. Being well-rested will keep saving you money too as you will probably spend less money on things like coffee and more snacks to keep you going that we tend to reach for when we’ve had a bad night’s sleep.
Those are my 5 money saving tips that will also make you healthier. It’s time to make some healthy swaps and save some money for a summer holiday!
