|Best Kid’s TV Shows from The 90s
Looking to take a trip back in time? Perhaps it is time to relive your childhood or younger days by watching your former favourite shows. If you have forgotten about them over the years then not to worry, we have compiled a list for you. Let’s jump right into some of the best kid’s TV shows from the 90s!
- Ed, Edd n Eddy
For a slightly weird and whimsical watch, Ed, Edd n Eddy has got to be one of the best kid’s TV shows from the 90s. The show features the three friends, all of that go by the name Ed in some form, as they live day-to-day life in their cul-de-sac, alongside their friends and neighbours. Chomping on jawbreakers and causing mischief is what this show entails in most episodes, and the appearances and escapades of the characters are bound to make you giggle.
- Rugrats
Who could forget about the group of babies who could all talk, easily escape their parents, and head out on adventures? The Rugrats has been one of the most iconic kids’ TV series to ever grace our screens, and we believe that this is down to the contrasts between each baby. Whether it be outspoken and malicious Angelica bossing the group around, or little red-head Chuckie being a paranoid wreck, watching the Rugrats was always entertaining. The question is, how were these parents so careless and oblivious!?
- Hey Arnold!
“Move it football head”, ahh the famous football head, and who else could Helga be talking about other than her in-denial love interest, Arnold. Hey Arnold features none other than, you guessed it, Arnold, as the main character and follows his life with friends and family in a fictional city within Washington. The success of the series led to two movies begin produced with the characters with the most recent one being released in 2017. Impressive for a show that was initially released in 1996 if we do say so ourselves.
- Art Attack
If you were a 90s baby in Britain, then you are bound to remember coming home from school, turning on the TV, and heading straight to CITV to tune into Neil’s (or you may just know him as the guy in the red pullover) greatest creations. Accessing entertaining channels like CITV was only capable if your TV aerial was fully functioning. (Click here for TV aerial installation.) With small pieces, and very large (room-filling) pieces of art, this show never failed to entertain, and it certainly made us all want to become an artist at some point or another. Let’s face it, you at least tried to complete one of the projects shown on the screen! Were you a real fan if you never?
- Recess
Let’s face it, Disney Channel certainly overplayed Recess back in the late 90s/early 2000s, but were we complaining? Certainly not! What young boy didn’t look up to T.J? Following the life of six fourth-graders at an American elementary school, Recess has always been a popular favourite. Without a doubt, the group of kids always got up to mischievous tricks and defended their freedom against those around them including other students and the wicked Miss Finster, the elderly teaching assistant. No day at school was ever normal or dull with these kids around that’s for sure.
- Dexter’s Laboratory
“DEE DEE” we can simply hear young Dexter’s voice scream these words as he displays his frustration towards his sister infiltrating his precious laboratory space. Dexter, a small and eccentric young scientist, was the main character in Dexter’s Laboratory. Always up to something new in his hidden secret library behind his bookcase, he is constantly in rivalry with his arch-nemesis, Mandark, and is always having several infuriating encounters with his sister who towers over him. The most hilarious part of Dexter has got to be his accent, although he is born into an American family, he adopts a Russian-like accent that keeps all viewers entertained with his uniqueness and hilarious words and phrases.
- SpongeBob SquarePants
We certainly cannot forget to include who lives in a pineapple under the sea in our best kid’s TV shows from the 90s list, can we? Everyone is bound to have watched at least one SpongeBob episode, or even caught the movie! Following the life of a little yellow and energetic sea sponge and his friends of Bikini Bottom including Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, his pet snail Gary, and money-orientated boss, Mr. Krabs, no day is ever the same in Bikini Bottom, especially with the lively SpongeBob around.
- Courage the Cowardly Dog
If you had watched this show in your younger days, you are bound to have thought it was one of the scariest animated shows to surface on your TV screen! Featuring a tiny pink dog, with the ability to become traumatised by pretty much anything, and his two owners, an old couple named Eustace and Muriel, the show was full of surprises with the weird yet frightening characters that appeared in their home in the middle of nowhere. Although this show has been a questionable watch for kids due to the disturbing and spine-chilling features, we can guarantee that if you were to watch it now, you would laugh away!
- The Powerpuff Girls
Sugar, spice, and everything nice, oh and accidental spillage of chemical X, and there we have it, The Powerpuff Girls were formed and released in 1998. Following three girls who are trying to balance normal life in kindergarten with the faced-paced reality of having superpowers, each episode follows them as they deal with rivalry to protect their city and its residents. With infamous rivals such as Mojo Jojo, The Gangreen Gang, and Princess to name a few, nothing is ever a problem for the iconic Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup who always come out on top.
