Book Review + Giveaway: Pilot Ollie & Pilot Polly’s Amazing Adventures
Plane Characters is a fun children’s book series by self-published author and commercial pilot Robert Johnson about Pilot Ollie and Pilot Polly. The book collection features a wide range of characters and follows them on their pilot travel adventures!
Rob is an experienced pilot and wrote his first two books Pilot Ollie and Pilot Polly for his own children as they were always showing an interest in where he’d travelled to and what sights he’d seen. He thought making these books would be a nice way to share his experiences with his children and others with similar enquiries so he decided to publish them to make them available to the general public.
The Plane Characters book range now includes seven fun books. Four of the books have big city themes and follow the pilots’ trips to New York, London, Madrid and Rome and one takes us to Lapland. There’s also a Guide to The Airport one and a Come Fly With Us one that both give us more general guides to how everything works in the airline life.
We received these books just before we were flying to Sweden for a visit so the timing was perfect. My eldest daughter is three years old and she loved learning about what happens at the airport and with the planes. The books cover all those things that you’re wondering about when you’re little and are about to travel by air.
They’re very exciting, informative and educating for young children and fun to read too. The books have been designed, illustrated and printed here in the UK using sustainable paper sources.
The Plane Characters website is lovely too — there you’ll find lots of information about the books, the company and Rob plus fun facts about the characters, news, special offers and free downloadable activity papers.
You can buy the books directly from the website or use it to find local stockists. Some of the books are also available to buy through Amazon.co.uk.

Books were provided to us for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I would love to take the family on a road trip in the US! Looks like fun on TV and I’d love to go to all the big amusement parks with them.
Italy to enjoy time eating lots of pizza and gelato! :)
My wife is from Japan and we’ve not been there with the kids yet so would love to go on a family trip there soon.
I would like to take the kids to visit their grandparents in France! It’s been a while since we could go there! Maybe this summer.
