BOXD Plant Based Protein Shakes Review – Vegan Protein Powder (now jrny)
Update 18/09/2022 – BOXD has now rebranded to jrny. “Our superpowders remain the same, however we’re a lot clearer on the key benefits our customers want (energy, improved digestion, replacing multi-vit pills) and have ditched all dairy based products.”

BOXD is a company that makes sustainable protein shakes specifically designed for women with 16 vitamins and minerals in their RDAs.
The company is ethos driven with 100% recyclable/biodegradable packaging and on a fight against diet culture which is so great to hear! Their mission is to make healthy nutrition simple for all women with high-quality, science-based products.
BOXD has a wellness focus and the shakes have been created to support and boost health, fitness, and lifestyle goals – whatever you want for your own body.
They make whey shakes too but, in this post, I’ll be focussing on the plant based shakes which I have sampled myself through the BOXD 1 Month Plant Based Starter Kit.

This handy starter kit contains a 700g pouch with 23 servings and 7 x 30g sachets of protein shake powder along with a 15g sustainable wooden scoop to help you measure the powder for your shakes and an eco-friendly tote bag with a cool print of strong, modern women. The wooden scoop is so cute!

For the flavours, you can choose between Madagascan Vanilla or Double Chocolate Brownie. I went for Vanilla for the sachets and Brownie for the big bag so that I could sample both flavours.
The vegan protein powder is a blend with pea protein that delivers 21 grams of protein per serving along with lots of nutrients – a health boosting mix formulated especially for the needs of women:
- Iron to keep energy levels up
- Vitamin D for your immune system
- Vitamin C for your immune system and for your hair, skin, and nails
- Vitamin B complex (7 B-vitamins) for improved brain function, cell health, improved digestion, and hormone regulation
- Electrolytes for reducing stress and anxiety and to regulate hydration and sleep
- Golden flaxseed packed with omega-3 oils for heart health
Made with Fairtrade raw cacao and plant based sweeteners, the clean formula is free from added sugar, GMOs, gluten and soy.

You can enjoy up to two shakes per day. To make one, add two scoops to 150-200ml water in a shaker or a blender. You can make it thicker or runnier by adjusting the amount of water to powder ratio. I think protein powder works best in smoothies for the best flavour, so I like to add mine to a fruity smoothie. The Brownie flavour works well with a banana smoothie while the Vanilla works wonderfully with a berry one.

I’m also going to try to make protein energy balls using my BOXD plant based protein powder soon. I’m sure that will work perfectly!
