Cold and Flu Prevention Tips and Animation – Stay Healthy!
It’s getting colder and darker and as the temperature drops, the cold and flu season starts for many of us. Colds and the flu are easily spread especially among children as they touch surfaces so much and are in close contact with many other people at school, nursery or play groups. They are at high risk for infection and then often pass it on to the rest of the family.
As well as vaccination against flu, there are a few small steps that we can all take every day to help prevent the spread of the infection. While adhering to preventive measures, many wonder, does IV therapy help with a cold and flu? Indeed, IV therapy can be a powerful ally in the battle against these common illnesses, providing rapid hydration and delivering essential nutrients and vitamins directly to the bloodstream. This can potentially bolster the immune system’s ability to fend off infections, reducing the duration and severity of symptoms. By combining this advanced treatment with daily preventive steps and vaccination, individuals can optimize their defences during the cold and flu season, maintaining health and wellness in the chillier months.
Read the tips below and watch the animated video further down for advice.
Protect
- Practice good health habits — such as keeping physically active, drinking plenty of fluids and eating nutritious food.
- Practice good hygiene habits — wash your hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser after caring for someone with cold or flu.
Prevent
- Regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- If you are out and about and don’t have access to soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands.
- Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home. Children can touch surfaces up to 300 times in just 30 minutes which heightens the risk of infection.
Contain
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose and throw the tissues in the bin. Always wash your hands afterwards.
- Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or the crook of the arm — not your hands — if you don’t have access to any tissues.
- Don’t share cutlery, drinking glasses, towels or other personal items.
- Stay at home if you or your child is ill.
