Expressing Breastmilk Made Easy with Tommee Tippee Express & Go

I’m breastfeeding my second baby and expressing milk was something I definitely wanted to do this time around too. My firstborn was breastfed and I expressed milk every now and then for her but I didn’t enjoy the process. When pregnant with baby No. 2, I decided to become better at expressing and to do it more often to build up a supply in my freezer for when I need it rather than emergency pump a few hours before. I decided to be more organised and find better equipment to help me.

When Tommee Tippee announced that they would release a range of breastfeeding products I got very excited and even more so when I saw the Express & Go range!

The Express & Go system has everything you need to make expressing easy and mess-free. I have the complete starter set that includes:

• 1 x Breast Milk Warmer
• 1 x Storage Case
• 1 x Breast Pump Adaptor Set
• 2 x Breast Milk Pouch bottle with 4 slow flow teats
• 20 x Breast Milk Pouches

You can use your own favourite breast pump as the adapter set connects to lots of different popular brands including Medela, Lansinoh, Evenflo, Ameda, Philips Avent and Tommee Tippee. This is brilliant and very generous of Tommee Tippee.

I mainly use my electric Medela pump and I’m so happy that I can use it with the Express & Go system.

Express & Go lets me use my favourite pump but not worry about spilling and losing any milk as the milk goes directly into a single use sterilised pouch with a screw cap. The pouch can then go in the freezer to be used at a later day or into the fridge for later. The set includes a stylish and practical storage case to keep your breastmilk stock neatly organised.

When I want to feed my baby, I can use the Breast Milk Warmer which gently warms the milk to preserve nutrients and vitamins. Tthe basket on the inside helps water to circulate to warm milk evenly. It’s an intelligent warmer with three simple settings for accurate warming of the milk.

You alter the warmer based on bottle type, volume of feed and starting temperature (frozen, fridge or room temperature). It’s really simple to use — even when you’re extremely sleep-deprived! — and it fits most branded bottles and pouches. Of course, you can also use it to warm fomula milk or cow’s milk later on too so it will last a long time.

The warmer is compact so it doesn’t take up much room on our worktop and it looks nice too!

I usually offer my baby the milk cold if it’s just been in the fridge but if it’s frozen, like it usually is, the warmer is perfect.

After warming the pouch, the next step is a bottle. With Express & Go you don’t even have to transfer the milk into a bottle as there’s a special pouch bottle that fit the pouches.

The pouch clicks securely into place onto a ring with a teat and a pouch support. The teat is a unique, breast-like one for an easy latch. It’s very similar to the Tommee Tippee Ultra teat but centred. Unfortunately, you can’t use the Ultra teat with the pouch bottle and vice versa but they’re both very good. The super-sensitive, easy-vent valve eliminates excessive air flow to help minimise the risk of discomfort.

The pouch bottles are dishwasher safe, BPA-free, phthalate-free and PVC-free. They’re really easy to use as you just attach your pouch and feed your baby. At first, I thought that it would be difficult to get the milk flowing well from the pouch as it’s floppy but the support eliminates this problem completely as it holds the pouch in the perfect position for feeding.

It’s so amazing that I can use the same pouch to express, store, warm and feed, meaning there’s no need to transfer milk at any stage. There’s no mess and it’s so easy. I’m known to be clumsy and always spill things — breastmilk included — so this is perfect! No more crying over spilt breastmilk! Fewer things to wash and sterilise too which is always a bonus!

Expressing is so much easier and more enjoyable now that I have the Express & Go kit from Tommee Tippee. My favourite bits are the pouches and the adapters and they are definitely on my list of my most useful baby products.
