Fancy a new job? – Become a Foster Parent with Action for Children
1 in 4 UK children in foster care have moved twice or more in just one year which is not good enough. Moving home is traumatising enough but moving families as well is taking things to a different level.
Action for Children are looking for foster parents who have Stickability — who will stick with children through thick and thin. They are looking for people who can provide a safe and loving foster home, people who have the energy and space in their lives needed to foster and who are passionate about making a difference to children.
If that’s you, take the Stickability test on their Facebook page and find out more about the application process and order an information pack here
“The children we help have had difficult starts in life, experienced traumatic childhoods and often come to us as teenagers. Whatever their age or circumstances these are the children that need our help the most. They all deserve a new start and a stable home but we need you to help us.
We put children and foster parents at the heart of everything we do and will give you all the support you need to make children’s lives better.”
My husband and I are approved foster carers but due to our distance from our fostering agency, we didn’t get a chance to have a placement before our daughter was born. After she was born, I went on maternity leave for 9 months and then our house was deemed too small to house a foster child as well. So we can’t foster until we have a bigger house but it is still something that we are interested in doing in the future. We both love children and I have lots of experience working with children of all ages so it’s very suitable for us.
