Feminist, Vegan & Sustainable Fashion from Dope Soul Village | AD

Dope Soul Village is a feminist fashion and lifestyle brand that produces 100% sustainable and vegan hoodies, t-shirts and accessories. Their statement designs promote gender equality and aim to spark conversation about women’s rights, educate the public and challenge social norms.

The Dope Soul Village Story

Dope Soul Village was founded by Samantha Patrick after suffering traumatic experiences at the hands of men. The brand raises awareness for injustices faced by women and donates 20% of profits to women who are suffering in some way. Samantha has also used the Dope Soul Village platform to create a supportive network of women, advocating for and providing resources to those suffering through gender-based violence.

How a Military Wife Used Fashion to Create a Supportive Community of Women

1 in 10 military personnel have experienced intimate partner violence and abuse. This alarming statistic was found during a 2022 study by King’s College London. The hierarchical nature of the military contributes to a strong patriarchal environment, but the military also mirrors the rest of society in many ways. Gender-based violence and gender inequality is still a big part of the modern world and a daily occurrence for many.

Samantha Patrick was born into a military family, and then later married into another. She experienced first hand how wives and families are treated in the military community and was driven to create a safe space where women can seek help from each other.

Samantha shares raw and honest videos on social media and these have attracted a flood of responses from women in similar positions. She’s using her own experiences to shed light on the domestic abuse faced by many military wives. Additionally, she’s also highlighting other issues faced by women globally. Samantha created Dope Soul Village to maximise her platform for good with donations to women-focused charities.

Samantha also designs the Dope Soul Village products herself. Furthermore, the garments are made from 100% vegan-certified organic cotton which ensures that the brand’s positive impact extends to sustainability.
