Fred’s Box Review – Fun Monthly Subscription Box for Kids

Subscription boxes have been popular for a few years now and there are lots of different genres for us adults like beauty, coffee or wine subscription boxes, for example.

Kids can join the subscription fun now too with Fred’s Box which is a new and exciting subscription box for children age 3 years and above.

Fred’s Mystery Box is a surprise box full of goodies suitable for all children over 3. You specify some details when ordering — if your child is under the age of 5 or over, if you have a boy or a girl and what reading age your child is at — to get a box full of items perfect for your child.

The box always includes a reading book, an Ooshie figure for over 5’s (or four Crayola funky shapes for under 5’s), trading cards, a Fred’s Box pencil, a sticker, four design your own postcards and 2-5 more mystery gifts!

The box is slim and fits through the letterbox which is great as this means you don’t have to wait for the postman to deliver it when you’re at home.

There’s also an option to order a twins subscription box with double the items if you have two kids. You don’t have to have actual twins for this — you can specify different ages, genders and reading ages for two kids. This is something that my girls would love when my youngest is a bit older!

Our Fred’s Box — or Lily’s Box as it’s called when it’s a girl’s one — arrived perfectly timed on the afternoon of a day when we were going out for a family meal in the evening. The perfect time for a few new bits to keep my eldest entertained and happy when out.

The box we received is an over 5’s type of box. My eldest daughter is three and a half years old and we picked a box with an older reading age than her actual age because she’s very into reading books. She loves the book that came in the Fred’s Box and we read it together every night. It’s a great book for kids who are starting to learn how to read.

She also loves figures so the Ooshie is perfect for her. I love that you’ll never get the same one twice so you’ll always get a new one you need for your collection. You never get the same book twice either. The fidget spinner is amazing and the whole family plays with it!

Boxes for under 5’s only contain items appropriate and recommended for the age range and not things like fidget spinners or Ooshies.

All items were a huge hit and she plays with everything loads! We’ve had the things for nearly two weeks now but they’re still fun and get used everyday. The trading cards, bracelets and hair bows are the “girly” bits. Fred’s Boxes are generally fairly gender neutral but they have a girl and boy choice for the mystery gifts. If you’d like a unisex box with a mix of jewellery/hair accessories and Star Wars/superheroes, you can get that by sending a message. My girls play with all kinds of toys and for us a unisex option when you order would be great but it’s easy to send a message too.
