Having grown up in Scandinavia where the winters are very long and very dark, I know all about the importance of making sure that you are visible to stay safe in the dark, especially if you are near roads.

Here in the UK, people generally are not as careful in the dark though – I see so many people dressed in all black or other dark colours when it’s dark and that pretty much makes them invisible to drivers, which is very frightening.

There’s a scary comparison of this available online where you see one image with a child dressed in dark colours approaching the road (you can’t really see the child) and one where the child is wearing a bright yellow coat and other brighter clothing (and clearly visible). The difference is amazing and wearing the right colour clothing or other items that increase your visibility in the dark can literally be a life-or-death situation.

In this article, you can see a very clever product – the Futliit LED Backpack. It’s a backpack that has been designed for any children and adults who need to be seen in the dark. It’s ideal for primary/secondary school kids, students, cyclists, and commuters who are out and about while it’s dark and need to be clearly visible to stay safe near roads.

The Futliit LED Backpack features easy-to-reach LED switches that control two bright white LED strips that offer several lighting offers. There are two choices of flashing modes, one steady-on and one off setting – you can combine these however you wish as the strips are controlled separately from each other.

The controls are placed in a small triangular pocket at the bottom of the shoulder straps which makes it really easy to control the lights while the backpack is on your back. Simply press once for fast flash, again for slow flash, and again for always on. Press one more time to turn the lights off.

I’m pleased that the battery can be changed when needed to so that you can keep using your Futliit LED Backpack for a long time, enjoying all its features.

The backpack also has reflective panels to increase visibility even further. The backpack is made from water-repellent durable nylon and feels very sturdy and well-made.

It features a padded back and adjustable, reinforced padded shoulder straps for comfort and has an easy grab carry handle too.

The bag features two zipped compartments – the larger, main compartment has an internal padded laptop sleeve as well as a large area for carrying other things, such as A4 folders or school books. The smaller, front pocket compartment includes a key holder and pockets to keep smaller items organised.

The Futliit LED Backpack has another feature that is very important to me – two deep external water bottle pockets. So many backpacks have shallow or small water bottle pockets and most only have one which can cause weight imbalance and is annoying when you like to carry more than one bottle.

The size of the bag is H40cmxW30cmxD16cm which is a great size that can be used by children or adults comfortably. The bag looks great too – the minimalist style makes it suitable for all ages.

It’s an excellent backpack to use all year round and to use for increased visibility when it’s dark. It’s time for the UK to take action and for individuals to do what they can to make sure they are more easily seen in the dark. Road safety is not just a responsibility for drivers, but for pedestrians too.

From September through to spring, we have many hours of darkness here in the UK too. Did you know that the prime time for car accidents involving pedestrians is 3-6pm when most of us are walking home from school or work? A Futliit light up LED backpack is a practical way to carry what you need for the day and to help keep you and your family safe when walking in the dark.

Futliit LED Backpacks have been designed in the UK by a family run business and are available to buy directly from futliit.co.uk.

Collaboration.
