Nirvana Brewery Low & Non-Alcoholic Beers Review
|Nirvana Brewery Low & Non-Alcoholic Beers Review | AD
The festive season has been a time of overindulgence for many of us with too much food, too many treats and too much booze. Now it’s all over, we’re in January at the start of the new year, it’s a great time to think about your drinking habits and reduce your alcohol intake if you think you might be drinking a bit too much.
Some people like to do Dry January and not drink any alcohol at all this month while others choose to cut down. My husband is currently not drinking alcohol at all for health reasons and I am more mindful of what, when and how much alcohol I drink and choosing to replace some drinks with non-alcoholic alternatives.
We have recently discovered the drinks available from Nirvana Brewery and are really impressed with them. Nirvana Brewery is Britain’s only dedicated low/no-alcohol brewery and their tasty range of beers is also low-calorie and vegan.
Nirvana Brewery is a family-run brewery based in East London. The business is run by Becky Kean who is a recent winner of Management Today’s ’35 Women Under 35’ and the brewery’s current head brewer is also a woman called Kath Stratford.
Nirvana was set up after Becky’s father went teetotal and missed the taste of beer but struggled to find any decent alcohol-free alternatives. Becky was determined to put a smile back on her father’s face and created Nirvana and its range of delicious no and low alcohol vegan beer.
We are currently sampling a mixed pack of Nirvana’s best-sellers:
- Bavarian Helles Lager
- Hoppy Pale Ale
- Dark & Rich Stout
The Bavarian Helles Lager is an award-winning lager brewed to Bavarian traditions. It has won a World Beer Awards medal which is a great award to receive. It’s a refreshing and delicious golden lager that’s crisp and well-balanced with notes of nectar and biscuit. This one has an ABV of 0.3% and 66 calories per bottle.
The Hoppy Pale Ale is refreshing and light, brewed using fruity Mosaic hops. It is full of flavour and has a dry and bitter finish. It’s got an ABV of 0.5% and is just 30 calories per bottle.
The Dark & Rich Stout is malty and chocolatey with hints of vanilla. It’s bold and glorious, rich but well-balanced. This one is completely alcohol free with an ABV of 0.0% and 66 calories per bottle. The stout is gluten free too.
All of the above cost £1.80 per 330ml bottle. These three beers are Nirvana Brewery’s best-sellers but they also have more options, including Classic IPA (ABV 0.5%), Traditional Pale Ale (ABV 0.0%) and Organic Pale Ale (ABV 0.5%). Classic IPA, Hoppy Pale Ale and Organic Pale Ale are also available in cans. Also in cans, you can find the limited-edition Heaven vs. Hell duo.
If you’re not sure what to try or want to try a few different options, Nirvana Brewery also offers great mixed boxes and discovery packs with different beers. You can find them all here. Nirvana beers are also available from Ocado that is currently offering 25% off (between 29/12/2022 and 24/01/2023) and some are also available in National Trust properties from this month.
Whatever your reason for wanting to reduce your alcohol intake, Nirvana beers are a great option for still enjoying tasty and refreshing drinks without the booze.
