Our Baby Nappy Change Essentials – Favourite Products & Brands
When you have a baby, you have to change nappies A LOT. It’s not much fun really and to make everything as easy and smooth as possible, there are a few products that we like to keep available at our napping changing station.
We don’t have a changing table but keep all our supplies in a large Lego head for each of our children. In the boxes, we keep a change of clothes, a changing mat each and these products:
- ALDI Mamia Nappies
We’ve used Mamia nappies since my first daughter was born nearly three years ago. We love them! For us, they work so well and they’re very affordable too. They’re soft, fit nicely, don’t cause any rashes and keep my girls dry overnight (12 hours!). Brilliant!
- M Little Big Mild as Water Newborn Wipes
When I was pregnant with Baby No. 2, I investigated wipes suitable for newborns because the recommended cotton wool and boiled, but cooled, water solution is just not very practical when you’re also looking after a toddler. WaterWipes is a famous brand that makes gentle wipes for newborns but they’re very expensive and not within my budget. I came across a dupe from Superdrug that I love and these from Morrisons that are very similar too. They have just the right wetness and are very gentle. They only cost 67p per pack or 5 for £3.00 which is great value. I use these for both my toddler and my baby and they are our favourite wipes now.
- Sudocrem Care & Protect
The classic Sudocrem Healing Antiseptic Cream is great for all kinds of things but it’s really thick and can be quite messy, so for my kids I like to use the lighter Sudocrem Care & Protect cream that is easy to apply and has a triple-action formula — it’s a barrier cream, it conditions the skin and protects it against infection. It can be used to prevent or treat nappy rash and is safe to use from birth. It’s also amazing for treating sore skin in all the chin and neck folds that my chunky baby has! One application is enough and the redness goes away.
- Hand Sanitiser
The sink is always near at home but I like to keep a hand sanitiser available at all times too for extra care. The brand is not that important for this products — I like Carex, Cuticura and own brands too. I tend to go for fun scents and colours though as my children use them too and it’s a bit more exciting that way.
- A Toy for the Baby
My youngest is 5 months old now and she loves to roll around so I need something to keep her attention whilst I change her nappy. Sometimes talking or singing works but other times I need a toy too! Currently she’s loving her Sassy Ring-O-Links Teethers and so does her big sister (she doesn’t chew them though!). The colours are lovely and the links have different textures too.
