Recipe: Homemade Peach Iced Tea that Tastes Like Lipton Iced Tea
|Recipe: Homemade Peach Iced Tea that Tastes Like Lipton Iced Tea
I’m a huge fan of Lipton Iced Tea and love drinking it in the summer when the weather is hot. It reminds me of summers from my childhood and holidays in Greece, Spain and Portugal.
In Sweden, Lipton Iced Tea comes in sachets that are quite affordable (like this Lipton Iced Tea powder but in sachets to make 1 jug each) but here in the UK, I have only come across the 1.25l bottles from the supermarkets and the small 500ml bottles occasionally. The bigger bottles are usually £2 each which is not cheap (you can sometimes buy them via Amazon.co.uk at a cheaper price).
After having gone through quite a few of these expensive ready made iced tea bottles, I decided to have a go at making my own version and it worked so well that I’m unlikely to buy the real thing for at home consumption ever again!
Let me tell you how I make homemade peach iced tea that tastes like Lipton Iced Tea. It’s super easy and just takes a few minutes too! Let’s get started:
Step 1: Brew some tea! For one serving, I just brew about half a mugful. I find that Birchall Great Rift Breakfast Blend (tea bags or loose tea leaves) works really well for this drink but you can of course use Lipton tea bags or other plain black teas too.
Step 2: Add a heaped teaspoon of white sugar and stir until dissolved completely.
Step 3: Now it’s time to cool the tea down so add lots of ice and some cold water.
Step 4: The final step is adding the peach flavour and the magic ingredient to make this homemade iced tea taste like Lipton Peach Iced Tea is ASDA 50% Fruit White Grape & Peach High Juice. Sainsbury’s do a similar one which is great too – Sainsbury’s High Juice Squash White Grape & Peach No added Sugar. I’m always generous with how much of this I add as I love the peachy flavour it provides. Pour some into your glass, stir with a spoon or reusable straw, and add more to taste. Enjoy!
That’s it! It’s super easy to make homemade peach iced tea that tastes like Lipton iced tea by following the steps above. It’s much cheaper making your own iced tea this way and much fewer plastic bottles are used this way too – it’s a win-win.
