If you’ve ever used a traditional travel cot, you’ll know that they can be quite annoying to set up and take down. Sometimes the sides don’t click into place and sometimes they’re impossible to fold down into the desired shape for putting away. When attempting to fold down, my old one often gets stuck on one side meaning a leg pokes out! There always seems to be a knack needed and it’s rarely a smooth experience getting the travel cot up or packing it away.
The SpaceCot is a completely different affair. It’s so different from the other travel cots that I’ve used and it’s so easy to use. I can tell you that you will never get annoyed nor angry with a SpaceCot!
It’s been designed to be really easy to pop up and to take down and it really opens and closes within three seconds. It’s amazing and so simple to do. You can see just how easy it is in my little video (below) where I show how you do it.
The SpaceCot has also been designed to be as sturdy and comfortable as a permanent cot. It’s got padded edges and a well-padded mattress to ensure your little one is comfortable whether they’re sleeping or playing. The folding mechanisms are well-covered too so there’s no risk of any trapped fingers.
You can use the SpaceCot as a playpen or a travel cot from birth up to 30 months. If your baby is under 6 months old, you can use the removable bassinet that comes with the SpaceCot that places your baby at a higher height meaning less bending when you pick your baby up — plus less chance of your baby waking up!
I’m really impressed with how sturdy and stable the SpaceCot is. It’s much sturdier and stronger than the other travel cots that I’ve used but it’s still really lightweight too. It only weighs 6kgs!
The SpaceCot has rubber feet which helps it stay in place on any floor surfaces and also protects your floors from potential marks.
You can’t ignore how lovely the SpaceCot looks — it’s beautiful and the design is very appealing. It’s look luxurious and well-made — and it is! The white mesh sides ensure good airflow and also makes sure you can see your baby at all times and vice versa.
With your SpaceCot, you also get a storage bag which is great for keeping the cot clean and protected when not in use and for travelling of course.
The ease of putting this travel cot up is of course the most amazing bit and it requires barely any effort at all. You don’t have to bend loads or try to work out what to do. It’s really easy and great for anyone as nobody likes to waste time or get annoyed. It’s also especially good for grandparents or anyone else who might struggle to bend. Some travel cots are quite hard to put up and fold away so this is a great selling point.
We love using ours as a playpen but it’s great for naps too. We’ve not travelled with it yet but we’re hoping to do so this summer.
The only negative points that I can think of are the price and the folded-up size. The SpaceCot retails at £139.99 which is quite a lot more than most travel cots but it’s definitely worth it! It saves you so much time and effort and it will not make you angry nor annoyed which I’m pretty sure a standard, traditional travel cot would do at some point. A lot of work has gone into creating this product and making it work smoothly and you can really tell.
When folded up, the SpaceCot travel cot is a lot larger than regular travel cots. The actual sleeping area when up is a bit smaller than standard but the folded-up size is bigger than most travel cots. It is more difficult to store because of this and if you’re very tight on space, it might be too large. It also takes up more space in the car and might not be as easy to take with you on some trips.
