Teach Your Child a Different Fact for Every Day of the Year #ad
I’ve always loved learning new things and my parents are the same too. My dad was always reading lots of different books – at the same time, like I do too! – and my mum always encouraged learning through games and books. My husband is curious too and always learning things for fun and for work.
I hope my children will be curious about the world and how things work and will want to learn as much as possible too. My youngest is only 15 months old but my eldest is 3.5 years old and has loved learning new skills and facts from an early age, doing jigsaws and reading books made for children much older than herself.
To help encourage her and stimulate her learning, I’m always looking for new books and activities that she’d enjoy.
Bloomsbury Publishing have published a great tool for this and it’s a beautiful picture book called “Facts! One for every day of the year” By Tracey Turner. It’s full of interesting and fun facts for children (and their parents!) to learn. It’s suitable for children between 4 and 8 years old and, like the title suggests, there’s a different fact for every day of the year.
It’s a gorgeous book that would make a wonderful birthday gift or Christmas gift. I’ve given it to my eldest daughter now as a starting pre-school gift and she loves it! It’s beautifully illustrated by Fatti Burke and the book is full of fun typography and colourful drawings alongside the exciting facts.
I love having this book to look through at the end of each day with my daughter. We all want our children to learn new things and have fun and it just gives us a little push and a very easy way to ensure she’s learnt something new and that we’ve discussed something new as a family.
I’ve had had a sneak peek through the book and there are so many interesting facts in it – many that I don’t know either so the whole family is learning together and discovering things about the world. I love that it spans across so many different categories too – you’ll find things about architecture, medicine, geography, science, culture, biology, history and much more in this book.
I highly recommend this little ritual to other families too. Take a few minutes out of each day to learn a new fact together!
You can buy the hardcover book from Amazon here for £7.94 (price correct today, RRP £12.99).
