We Tried The Curiosity Box – Here’s Our Experience

The summer edition of The Curiosity Box is packed with fun things to explore. This box includes the following items:

  • Martian Soil
  • Shadow Alphabet Puzzle
  • Picture Pie
  • Knot Book + Stickers
  • Knot T-Shirt
  • Curiosity Magazine

Let’s have a closer look at these products and what you can do with them.

Martian Soil

Martian Soil

In this box, you get a sample vial with 50g of Martian Global Simulant 1 which is also known as Martian Soil. It chemically and geologically replicates the mineralogic profiles of Mars. Scientists, engineers and educators use this to simulate the conditions on Mars.

Shadow Alphabet Puzzle

Shadow Alphabet Puzzle

This is an amazing puzzle! It consists of 67 shapes that you need to arrange to form the shadows of each letter of the alphabet. It’s fascinating how you can see the letters so clearly with just the shadows!

Shadow Alphabet Puzzle

You can do this puzzle without looking at the picture if you want to if you want a tougher challenge. Or you can use the picture on the envelope as a guide.

Picture Pie

Picture Pie

Inside an adorable mini pizza box, there’s a set of disks to use to create surprise drawings. You select a picture disk and place it on a paper. Then secure it with the pin in the hole in the centre. Make a reference mark just above the disk, then rotate the disk until the number 1 is under the mark. Then find the number 1 section on the disc and colour it in. Keep doing this for each number. When you’re done, take away the disc to see what you have drawn. The disks have varying levels of complexity and one of the disks can be used on both sides to create two pictures that are related. We loved doing this activity!

Knot book

Knot Book

The Knot Book is a full-size hard back book all about knots. It teaches you how to tie more than sixty different knots for different uses and situations. It even includes a rope to use to practise your knots.
