The Little Things that Instantly Add a Sense of Luxury to a Home
|The Little Things that Instantly Add a Sense of Luxury to a Home
Buying our new house was a long process and now that we’ve finally moved in and have got settled, we’re very aware of the little details that make a home feel special, complete and a bit luxurious too! There are definitely a few things you can do and some things you can add to your house to add a sense of luxury.
Here are my top tips to quickly add a sense of luxury:
- A Place for Everything and Everything in Its Place
This is a great quote to keep in mind in general, but especially when it comes to keeping your home looking nice. Space and clean, clear surfaces make your home feel calm and luxurious so try to be as organised as possible. Be minimalistic about your belongings and make sure you have a designated place for each of your things to avoid your home getting messy.
- A Guest Toilet
We finally have a guest toilet downstairs (which is great for family use too of course) and it’s so nice to not have to send guests upstairs if they need to visit the WC. It’s wonderful to have a guest toilet downstairs for them to use that’s not cluttered with toiletries, bath toys and the family’s bath towels! A guest toilet can be quite a cool space too if you want it to be. They’re usually small so ideal for choosing a more extravagant wallpaper for. You can experiment with other details too like tiles, mirrors or artwork for an interior design magazine worthy look!
- Matching Kitchen Equipment
A luxurious looking kitchen is tidy and clutter-free and another detail that makes a kitchen look its best is to have matching kitchen equipment. They don’t necessarily have to be the same brand but be careful to choose styles that go well together for a pleasant look. We have gone for brushed stainless steel for our bin, our large toaster, oven, hob and our kettle and it’s so nice that they all look good together.
- A Little Something Extra
A few other things that make a home and a kitchen feel special and luxurious are things like a professional coffee machine and a wine cooler. With these tools, you’re always ready to entertain (and impress!) guests whether they’re coming for a planned dinner or a surprise visit. A good coffee machine is great for daytime guests and an undercounter wine cooler is perfect if you love to host dinner parties and are keen to keep your wine at the optimal temperature.
- Fresh Flowers
Keeping fresh flowers and plants displayed around your home is a quick and easy way to make your home look well looked after. A beautiful bouquet on the dining table or on a side table in the hallway is great way to start.
- A Stocked Bar Trolley
We have three young children, so we don’t have this at the moment, but when they’re older, I’d love to be able to able to have a bar trolley on display in the kitchen or the living room. They look cool and gives you the perfect place to store your barware and spirits, ready to make a cocktail in the evening for yourself and your partner or when entertaining guests.
