The Topics We Dread to Discuss – Sex, Money and Death
Do you feel like you can talk about anything with your friends and family? Which? Wills has commissioned new research that reveals the unmentionable topics in life that we often don’t feel comfortable talking about — even with our close friends and family.
This recent research shows that we feel uncomfortable talking about some important parts of life and the trickiest subject matters are sex, finances, death and relationships.
The perception of taboo depends on the relationship we have with the person we’re speaking to and that we have different types of conversations with different people and that we are generally more comfortable talking to people our own age, like a sibling or a friend, than older generations.
Many of us avoid talking about awkward subject matters with our parents altogether and things like writing a will is a sensitive topic alongside sex, finances, and relationships.
I’m from Sweden and things work differently there and there are laws that mean certain things always happen if you die and you’re married or have children. Things work differently here in the UK and a will is definitely important. Which? Wills has simplified the process of learning how to make a will with its easy to use online tool to create a will in 30 minutes.
We should really learn to feel comfortable talking about these topics as we can help each other solve problems and figure out how to do things the best way. I feel comfortable talking about these subject with some people in my life but I will make a conscious effort to speak to more.
