We are about halfway through the school summer holidays. For most of us, it’s a busy time; juggling work and childcare, keeping the children entertained, occupied and fed. Plus probably dealing with some tears, tantrums, and arguments between siblings. Hopefully, you’ve also had time to enjoy spending these weeks with your family and doing fun things at home and away. With a few weeks left to go, focus on spending time with the kids and enjoying them while they’re home. There might be a few back to school things to sort out as well.

Help a Child in Nepal go to School

Across the country, most kids will return to, or start, school in September. A new school year is a fresh start and it’s usually nice to get back into a routine again after the long summer holidays. Your child is probably excited to get back to school too. No matter how much fun you have during the school holidays, most kids love being reunited with their friends at school.

Did you know that as well as your own child or children, you can also help send a less fortunate child to school too? And it’s easy to do by simply supporting a brand with the right mission.

Founded in Nepal in 2003, Sherpa Adventure Gear has made it its mission to educate the children of Nepal and to give employment to their parents. Sherpa Adventure Gear is working with the charity Room To Read’s Nepal Education Programme to implement a literacy programme aimed at improving and empowering the lives of children who are at a higher risk of dropping out of school due to cultural bias, a lack of educational resources and, for girls, pressures to marry.

So, if you’re looking to update your wardrobe with a new garment, make it something with a meaning. Every Sherpa item sold means you’ll be sending a Nepali child to school which is amazing! You’ll also be helping Sherpa achieve its commitment to providing 10 million school days by 2030!

My Wardrobe Update for Autumn

I chose to update my autumn wardrobe with a new waterproof jacket from Sherpa Adventure Gear. I got the Nima 2.5-layer long jacket in Haze.

It’s a fully seam-sealed waterproof jacket made from 100% recycled polyester. It’s got a durable water repellent coating which provides both waterproofing and wind-resistance while being breathable too. It is ideal for layering.

The jacket is designed to be hard wearing with a double ripstop fabric. The forward set shoulder seams offer freedom of movement and comfort when carrying a backpack. You can adjust the fit at the cuffs, hood and hem. Other features include venting pit zips, zip secure pockets, and an internal pocket. It also packs down really compactly. Overall, it’s a great coat that I’m sure will be so useful to me on both school runs and weekend adventures.
