Bambino Mio Reusable Nappies – Miosolo and MioDuo Comparison
|Bambino Mio Reusable Nappies – Miosolo and MioDuo Comparison
Bambino Mio is one of the best known brands in the cloth nappy world and one of the first ones I used when I got started with cloth nappies years ago with my older daughter. Bambino Mio makes two types of cloth nappies and can be found in supermarkets too which I think is absolutely brilliant as they’re making reusable nappies available to more people.
There are two types of nappies available from Bambino Mio and in this post, I’m going to share some details about both and compare their features.
The two different types of nappies available are Bambino Mio Miosolo and Bambino Mio MioDuo.
The Bambino Mio Miosolo Nappy
The Miosolo is an All-in-One (AIO) is an adjustable reusable nappy that fits between approximately 10-35lbs/4.5-16kg. It adjusts with rise poppers on the front of the nappy to make it smaller or bigger and can be made tighter or looser at the waist too.
It’s really easy to use and a great reusable nappy for beginners or childcare settings as it’s so similar to a disposable nappy in terms of shape and fit. The Velcro fastening at the waist makes it easy to adjust in size and to put on too. The elastics are nice and gentle on these nappies too.
On the inside, there’s a really soft stay dry layer that covers the whole inner of the nappy.
Under that, there’s an absorbent sewn-in insert hidden in a pocket. This pulls out for faster drying and so that you can add a booster if needed. The sewn-in insert is made from microfiber so a natural fiber booster is often needed for most babies to make the nappy last longer on the bum.
The Miosolo has a few handy features that I haven’t seen on other nappies – the little loops to pull the insert out without having to put your whole hand into a wet nappy and a little pocket for your hand for when putting the insert in, making it so easy!
The Bambino Mio MioDuo Nappy
The MioDuo nappy is an All-in-2 (AI2) reusable nappy so it’s made of two parts. The two parts are a waterproof wrap that is available in two sizes (Size 1 for babies under 9kg and Size 2 for babies over 9kg) and a cotton prefold insert. The insert is One-Size and can be used with either size cover.
The MioDuo wraps do not adjust in size as they don’t have rise poppers but you can of course adjust them at the waist. They also have Velcro fastening at the waist so are really easy to use and adjust for a good fit.
I love the MioDuo wraps as they’re so stretchy and soft and have lovely generous double gussets that help with fit and containment.
The cotton insert is very absorbent and folds out for faster drying. It can also be dried in the dryer if needed.
I like to just fold the prefold into a padfold for my toddler (and did this when she was little too) and add a fleece liner for a stay dry layer.
The MioDuo system can be used overnight too (some babies might need a booster) and the MioDuo cover can be used over many fitted nappies too.
Bambino Mio Reusable Nappies – Which one should I choose?
Nappies are a very personal preference but I think that the main thing to consider if choosing between Miosolo and MioDuo nappies is which material you prefer.
If you prefer natural fibres, then MioDuo would be best while if you prefer a quick-drying microfiber option, then the Miosolo is best.
Another important factor is whether you’d prefer to have a nappy that will last from soon after birth to potty training or if you’re happy to update your covers once your baby grows out of Size 1.
I personally love having a mixed stash of nappies and find different nappies suitable for different occasions. Bambino Mio Miosolo nappies with a booster make great nursery nappies for example!

These nappies were provided for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I’ve been buying Bambino Mio nappies and products for over 4 years as a paying customer and sometimes work with the brand on features like this too.
Hi there, great article!
A couple of nervous new mum questions as I want to do my part for the environment but find the reusable nappies somewhat intimidating. If you don’t mind answering them?
What do you mean by “just fold the prefold into a padfold for my toddler”, what’s a padfold?
Also you mentioned the Mio duo can be worn over fitted nappies, are you referring to disposables and if so why would that be beneficial? For swimming or an just extra layer to avoid mess?
Lastly, for the Bambino mio duo, do you just put the prefold inserts into a nappy bucket until ready to wash or is there more to it? How many would you recommend buying of the Mio duo outers, the prefolds and extra boosters? Baby due in December 2021 ☺️
Thank you!
Thank you, Tamara! I will send you an email. :)
Does the Mioduo 2 part nappy have an upper weight/age limit ?
Bambino Mio don’t specify an upper limit for Size 2 – Size 1 is under 9 kg and Size 2 is over 9 kg. Size 1 is a newborn size while Size 2 will generally last until potty training or around 15 kg. I find that they’re quite a roomy size though!
