Book Review: Kids Yoga by Karin Eklund – An Illustrated Yoga Guide

Kids Yoga is a beautiful new children’s book by author and experienced yoga teacher Karin Eklund. She was inspired to write Kids Yoga after spotting a lack of guides that were especially for children. This is a picture book so it allows children to look at the pictures and jump straight in and copy the poses that are illustrated in the book. The illustrations are really beautiful!

Older children can read the text to master the poses more precisely or parents can help by reading the text out loud and doing the movements and poses together with the children.

The book is lovely and provides children with a simple guide to a gentle yoga exercise routine, helping growing bodies stay healthy and fit and helping the young minds focus and relax. I think it’s a great routine to do together at the end of a busy school day to calm and gather yourself before relaxing at home or going bed.

The poses in the book are based on the ancient art and practice of yoga that seeks to bring mind, body and breath into harmonious alignment. They are inspired by nature and animals and the fun illustrations are inspiring and show the poses well. I think that these kinds of exercises are just what today’s children need!

The layout and typography of the book is gorgeous too and the texts are descriptive and calming.
