Cozy N Safe Excalibur Group 1, 2, 3 Car Seat First Impressions
The Excalibur by Cozy N Safe is a multistage Group 1,2,3 car seat with 4-point recline suitable for forward facing from 9 to 36kg which is 9 months to 11 years approximately. It features a 5-point harness that can be used in Groups 1 and 2 — up to 25kgs or 6 years approximately. This is a wonderful extra safety feature that I’m really happy about.
There are two ways to fit the Excalibur — either using the adult seat belt or with Isofix and top tether.
We are using this car seat with our eldest daughter (3.5 years old) but it also fits our youngest daughter too (17 months old) and we’ve tried both children in it. I’ll be back with a full review in the near future but in this post I’ll give you my first impressions of the Cozy N Safe Excalibur Group 1, 2, 3 Car Seat.
- Fitting Instructions (2/5)
How easy are the fitting instructions to follow?
I like that there’s a storage part on the back of the seat for the instructions but it would be even better if this pocket was on the side to be accessible at all times. I also like that you can get a copy of the instructions from the website if needed.
Unfortunately, the actual instructions weren’t very well written and quite confusing. I would suggest a complete rewrite and do a full leaflet for each stage and/or type of installation so that you can easily see the steps for your choice. Once we figured out how to fit it, it was quite straightforward though.
- Installing the EXCALIBUR (3/5)
How easy was the seat to install in your car?
We have an Astra and we do not have a place for a top tether. We have installed the car seat with the adult seat belt and attached the top tether to another bit in the boot for extra support and sturdiness. It feels safe and secure. I would recommend some more information about the different methods of installation, for example answering why you cannot use Isofix and seat belt combined.
- Adjusting the headrest and harness, removing harness and using as a high back booster (5/5)
How well does the Excalibur adapt and adjust for your growing child?
Adjusting the headrest and the harness is very straightforward and easy! I’m very happy about this as all our other car seats have been a bit tricky in this aspect. I’ve not used the car seat as a high back booster yet but testing the car seat with my toddler and my 3.5-year-old, I can say that it grows well with my children.
- Comfort & Safety (5/5)
How does the comfort, protection and padding compare to other seats you have used?
The padding is so soft and generous! It’s very well cushioned and lovely. It looks so comfortable for my daughter to sit in and I’m sure she’ll sleep well in it on longer journeys too. The side protection is also great and offers protection from side impact. It feels very safe!
I love the recline function! It was something we missed from our previous car seat as it felt like our daughter couldn’t lean back to sleep. It’s great! It could even have one more recline but it might not be possible.
The car seat fits both my children very well and you can remove the inserts as they grow to make more room.
- Style, look and feel (4/5)
Did you like the look of the EXCALIBUR?
The car seat looks great! We have the red one and it looks like a seat in a racer car! It’s also available in black/grey and I do think it’s a good thing to have a choice of colours. Had I chosen, I would have gone for the red one too. Some more colours would be great though.
The materials look like they’ll be easy to clean but we’ve not had any spills yet — just greasy toddler fingers on the leathery area.
- Price (4/5)
Although the RRP is £249.99 it is available from most retailers for £149.99.
I think that £249.99 is a bit too expensive but that £149.99 is a great price and good value for money. It seems like a great quality car seat and is definitely the best padded one and comfiest looking out of all the car seats I’ve seen.
- Do you expect it perform and deliver on the brand promise?
“Comfort and safety without compromise.”
Yes, I do think the Excalibur will perform and deliver! I’ll be back with my full review soon!
