|Easy Ways to Enjoy the Upcoming Halloween Season
Also called All Saints’ Eve or Hallow’s Evening, Halloween is usually observed on the eve of All Hallows’ Day, a celebration of a Christian feast called All Hallow’s Day. Celebrated on the 31st of October every year, it’s the beginning of the Allhallowtide period, which usually lasts for three days. Halloween is celebrated in many parts of the world and for the most part, the use of costumes and disguises, including makeup and masks, is acceptable.
Today, there are several ways people all over the world celebrate the day with trick-or-treating being the most popular. It mostly involves children who dress up in different kinds of costumes and Halloween Masks, most of them scary, and go from door-to-door asking “Trick or Treat”. The child then receives a treat, which is usually candy. If you’re not a child, the chances are that you’re not interested in playing dress-up and going from door to door. So, here are a few other ways you can enjoy the upcoming Halloween celebration.
- Costume Party
Every year, there are all kinds of themed parties happening during Halloween. They are usually so common that if you’re not throwing one, there’s someone a few houses down the road, who is. You can choose a particular theme and ask all guests to dress up for that theme. You may also decide to simply wing it and ask guests to just come with whatever costumes they feel like. If you’re throwing a party, make it a lot more “halloweeny” by visiting TheWorks and selecting a few items from their Halloween decorations page, to give your party the right feel.
- Movie Marathon
This is one activity that people all over the world usually like to take part in during Halloween. You can have a bunch of friends, family or just loved ones over and watch a couple of movies together. There are quite a number of scary movies and if you’re looking for a great story and hoping for the chills as well, find scary movies that are rated highly so it wouldn’t just be all about fright.
- Play Halloween Games
One of the easiest Halloween games to play is to gather everyone and have each person tell the scariest story they’ve ever heard. Participants are free to embellish the stories as much as they can or even create new stories, however fake. The scariest story by popular votes could win a small prize.
- Visit a Haunted House
In most places, parks and many other recreational centres usually set up some semblance of a haunted house. These places usually have a very spooky feel with several kinds of scary additions, including artificial ghosts and clowns ready to jump out. This is also one of the most common ways Halloween is celebrated all over the world.
This October, give yourself and your loved ones the proper scary fest with all of these activities and a whole lot more. There’s a good chance you’d need more than a day to run through all of these activities.
