Ella’s Kitchen The Easy Family Cookbook Challenge
We were recently challenged to try some recipes from Ella’s Kitchen The Easy Family Cookbook — The Orange One. Well, I love trying new recipes and orange is my favourite colour so we accepted the challenge. The book soon arrived in the post along with some orange goodies and a shopping voucher for ingredients.
The first thing I did was to look through the beautiful, colourful and helpful recipe book looking for the best ones to try with my family. I picked three things to try: Zoomy Mushrooms, Swedish Meatballs and Spiced Brekkie Hash-Up.
- Zoomy Mushrooms is a recipe of creamy mushrooms served on toasted rye bread — perfect! Just the kind of thing I like but don’t often make. I added some grated mozzarella cheese to ours but other than that, I followed the recipe quite well. I always change things around a bit!
- The Swedish Meatballs were a natural choice for our family with me being Swedish. I don’t eat meat myself but I made them for the husband and kids and they went down well.
- I’m a huge fan of halloumi so the Spiced Brekkie Hash-Up recipe caught my eye straight away. We added some extra veggies and cooked the halloumi separately to make it extra crisp and to keep the salty stuff away from the rest of the food. It was so good!
I made a little video showing our cooking process. You can watch it below:
The book is a lovely family cookbook full of ideas for meals that can suit the whole family. It’s got over 100 recipes that are nice and clear to follow and is also full of colour photos to inspire you. The chapters are organised by mealtime and the recipes have been carefully developed to be perfectly balanced meals and to appeal to kids and adults. You can adapt some for weaning babies too!
