It’s almost summer and with summer comes gardening! This past week, we’ve had to start cutting the grass and getting the garden ready for the warm half of the year. We’ve got lots of ideas for changes to our garden and a few big projects for the summer. Last year we barely did any work on the garden because our daughter was only a few months old and we were too busy and tired then. We are still tired, but this year we need our garden ready to play in!

Gardening can be quite hard work so I like to have a little treat planned to look forward to when you’ve finished your work and I found the perfect thing  for this on Dobies.co.uk — a Classic Chocolate Cake Kit.

I’m quite good at baking but have definitely become more pressed for time in the past year so I’m happy to use a kit like this that comes with everything I need to make a delicious treat really quickly and easily.

The Chocolate Cake Kit contains:

• cake mix
• icing mix
• 2 small non-stick springform cake tins
• utensils
• easy-to-follow instructions

The only other things you need are: a bowl, an oven, eggs (I used No-egg) and butter! Those items are things you usually have at home.

The cake is so easy and quick to make and baked perfectly. I whipped it up while my daughter was having a snack. The cake tins are really good quality ones and the utensils are too. We will definitely use these over and over again.

The icing was really easy to make to and spread nicely between the layers and all over the cake. There was plenty so I covered the whole cake.

After the first gardening session of the year, it was time to sample the cake! It was so yummy! The texture was perfect and the gooey icing kept the cake moist and perfect. It was even better after spending a few hours in the fridge. The leftovers didn’t last very long though…

I would say you can get four big servings out of the cake or six small ones. It’s an indulgent cake with a rich and deep taste perfect for chocolate lovers.

It’s the perfect way to finish a gardening session, eating it outside where you can see all the hard work you’ve done! This kit would also be great as a gift to a new baker or to take with you if you’re going to visit somewhere (or someone) where you don’t have all your stuff from the cupboards and utensils but still want to bake, like a caravan or cottage holiday.
