How to Keep That Summer Feeling Just a Little Bit Longer
Summer is coming to an end, but we still have a few weeks of the school holidays left and the month of September can be quite mild and nice but there’s no doubt that autumn is around the corner. I quite like autumn myself but there are definitely parts of summer that I will miss.
There are a few simple things you can do to keep that summer feeling a bit longer and make the most of the weeks we have left of the warmer and sunnier season.
Here are my tips:
- Keep Meals Summery
There will be many months for hearty and warming meals like stews and pies coming up so make the most of the fresh produce that we still have and eat summery and lighter meals like salads and lots of veg while they’re still in season. Enjoy fresh fruit and don’t forget those barbecues. It’s still warm enough to grill some burgers or halloumi! Just check the weather and get the barbecue going a bit earlier as it’s going dark sooner now.
- It’s Always Warm Enough for Ice Cream
I enjoy ice creams all year round but while it’s still summery, I love fruity ones and choose them over chocolaty ones. Co-op Food have a new range of high fruit content ice lollies that make perfect refreshing treats and they definitely help keep that summer feeling for longer! The two flavours are Pineapple & Lime and Watermelon & Apple with Chocolate Chips and the lollies are even shaped like fruits which kids love. They’re low in calories too at just 69 kcal and 80 kcal per lolly respectively. Find Co-op Pineapple Ice Lollies and Co-op Watermelon Ice Lollies in store for just £1.69 for a pack of three.
- Keep Your Summer Favourites
What are your favourite things from summer? For me, having iced coffees is one of my favourite things and I will keep enjoying them for a bit longer. For some, it might be a scent — a summery perfume or maybe the smell of sun cream? Or it could be keeping a tan by using a gradual tanner or something that’s part of your summer routine like enjoying your morning cuppa in the garden when the weather allows. Keep it going for as long as you can and wish and keep that summer feeling for just a bit longer.
