Indian Summer and a Classic Striped Shirt / Outfit of The Day

I can’t believe it’s the middle of September and we’re still having such glorious weather here in the UK! We’re definitely having an Indian summer and though I’m sensitive to the heat, I do love the sunshine and summery feel.

We’ve had a lovely day out with the family today and the weather has been perfect. Nice and cool in the shade and warm and summery in the sunshine. The sky is blue and people are happy.

I wore my new skinny jeans from H&M that I treated myself to three months post-partum and a new shirt too. My shirt is from Anself and it’s a classic striped lapel button-down shirt with long sleeves, a chest pocket, a turn-down collar and buttoned cuffs. It’s the kind of shirt that should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. My hat is from Primark.

The black stripes on white go with everything and it’s such a wearable item that you can dress up or down. It looks really nice with jeans and would look lovely tucked into a pencil skirt with some heels too. I like the sleeves rolled up for a casual look. You can tuck the shirt in completely, wear it loose, half tucked in or tied at the front or the side.

The delicate polyester fabric is soft and comfortable to wear and easy to care for — just machine wash it at 30 degrees and iron if you want to. It’s light enough to wear on a hot day and would work well in autumn/winter too with a jacket or cardigan.

It’s been cut to have quite a slim fit but I went for a size larger than I normally wear because I wanted a looser boyfriend (well, husband!) style fit plus my breasts struggle to fit in my usual size because I’m breastfeeding — something that’s very easy to do in this shirt. It’s quite stain resistant too which is great when you’re breastfeeding and when you have small children near you!

I’m very pleased with my classic striped shirt and I know I will get a lot of wear out of it. I got loads of compliments about it when I wore it today too which is always nice.
