Olsson Haircare is a company who develops and produces a range of hair care products especially designed for people with sensitive skin and for allergy and asthma sufferers. Their product range is Allergy UK certified and free from parabens and perfume. Their products are perfect if you find that conventional beauty and styling products cause itchiness, redness or other allergic reactions.

I personally only suffer from sensitive skin occasionally but my husband is very sensitive and so is my eldest daughter so I’m always keen to find products that are suitable for the whole family.

The Products

The Olsson Haircare range consists of 7 products for cleansing, caring and styling your hair:

Cleansing and Conditioning:

1. Shampoo volume hair
2. Shampoo normal/dry hair
3. Conditioner normal/dry hair
4. Conditioner spray normal/dry hair

Styling:

1. Mud styling wax
2. Hair spray medium hold
3. Hair mousse spray lift and hold

I have tried four of the products.

Haircare

Let’s start with cleansing! The Olsson Sensitive Shampoo (£9.95) for normal/dry hair is an ultra mild and very gentle shampoo that is suitable for all hair types and especially for allergy sufferers, of course. It’s very effective and soothing on irritated and sensitive scalps and nourishing and conditioning on the hair. It’s got added Vitamin B5 to help strengthen and fortify the hair.

Neither this shampoo not the conditioner below contain any silicone, parabens, perfumes or colours and they’re both Asthma & Allergy certified.

It’s a great shampoo that cleanses my hair very well without drying out my hair or my scalp. It just smells clean and fresh. I love that it comes in a huge 350ml tube! It will last me ages.

I always use a conditioner or hair mask after washing my hair because I have thick and dry hair that needs a bit of help to get smoother and brush-able. The Olsson Sensitive Conditioner (£9.95) for normal/dry hair is mild and gentle and suitable for all hair types. It’s a really lightweight but very nourishing formula with Aloe Vera to soothe the scalp. This conditioner works quickly and leaves my hair soft and easy to brush.

Sometimes, I like to use a leave-in conditioning spray to make my hair more easy to detangle. The Olsson Sensitive Conditioner Spray (£9.95) for normal/dry hair moisturises hair without weighing it down which is exactly what I’m looking for. It makes my hair easy to comb or brush through and is really easy to use. I just spray a small amount into my hair and brush it. My hair feels smooth and soft and not greasy at all.

It contains Aloe Very which is soothing and hydrating and very mild too. You can use it on children’s hair too which is great because my three-year-old has really wild curls that always need taming after washing.

Styling

Very occasionally I use a hair spray to hold my hair in place. I don’t like most of them due to smelling too strong and being sticky so I tend to avoid using them. The Olsson Sensitive Hair Spray (£12.95) with a medium hold is designed to be lightweight and effective and delivering a long lasting hold along with a healthy and natural look. It contains Pro-Vitamin B5 to prevent dryness and you can even comb through your hair after using it if  you want to restyle it.

This hairspray still has that hairspray scent but it doesn’t linger like most brands do. It doesn’t contain any perfumes or anything so that must just be what hairspray smells like. It delivers a good hold and I agree that the result is very natural. I can brush through my hair at the end of the day to remove most of the spray and don’t have to wash my hair immediately but can give it a day or so because the spray does not leave my hair greasy or sticky like most brands of hairspray.

I’m enjoying using all four of these products and would happily recommend them to others whether they have sensitive skin or not.
