|Simba Hybrid Mattress Review | AD
I had been considering a new mattress for a while – our previous IKEA mattress was just over 5 years old which is not too old in mattress years, but it had started to lose its shape, was no longer supportive enough, and showed extra signs of wear and tear from us having co-slept too.
It was time for that mattress to go and to replace it with something new and better. The co-sleeping days are over and it’s the perfect time to focus on improving sleep for us grown-ups with a fresh new mattress from Simba.
- The Simba Hybrid Mattress
Our new mattress is Simba’s original Hybrid mattress, their first ground-breaking design. So far, there are over half a million happy customers who own this mattress.
The Simba Hybrid mattress is a medium-firm mattress that features six innovative layers (see details of these on the product listing on Simba’s website). This mattress offers a clever mix of micro-springs and cushioning foam for proper spinal alignment, pressure relief, temperature regulation, and comfort. Other features include edge-to-edge support to prevent roll-off at the sides and a breathable cover with a zip-off top for easy washing or replacing.
Another aspect that is important to me is that Simba mattresses are made in the UK in zero-waste factories, with UK-sourced materials and they are 100% recyclable too. They also offer a not-for-profit, mattress removal/recycling service (for any brand and any size mattress, no purchase required).
Simba mattresses have been designed by sleep scientists and specialist engineers, with over 70 prototypes and body data from over 10 million people. Simba have won loads of industry awards for their innovative mattresses, and they are the most 5-star rated mattress brand in the world.
The combination of Simba’s springs and foam offers ergonomic support and excellent comfort for everyone, no matter what their sleeping style or shape is.
- Our Experience with the Simba Hybrid Mattress
Our new mattress arrived vacuum-packed and rolled up in a cardboard box. It was really easy to set up! We simply removed our old mattress to make space for the new one, got the rolled-up Simba mattress out of its box and placed it on the bed slats. Then we carefully cut the plastic to break the vacuum seal and removed all the packaging. The new mattress quickly started to rise to its intended size.
You can use your new Simba mattress within 3-6 hours, but it can take up to 72 hours for it to fully expand. We set ours up in the morning and slept on it the same night. Ours looked like it expanded fully very quickly and was very comfortable from the first night.
We are still in our first month of using our new Simba Hybrid Mattress, but so far we are very pleased with it. It’s so comfortable and supportive – it holds its shape well and feels great to sleep on. The washable cover is a huge bonus too as it will make keeping the mattress clean and hygienic so much easier.
- Do Simba Mattresses fit IKEA Bed Frames?
Simba have their own range of bed frames that you can buy for your Simba mattress, but if you already have a bedframe in good condition you might want to use that. We have an IKEA King Size bed frame that we wanted to keep using so before proceeding with a Simba mattress, I checked IKEA’s mattress size guide to make sure it would be a perfect fit.
Good news – IKEA’s Standard mattresses are the same as standard UK sizes! Our new Simba Hybrid Mattress in King Size fits our IKEA Standard King Size bedframe perfectly! (IKEA also have an IKEA/European size range which is not the same.)
