Simple Ways to Use Essential Oils in Your Wellness Routine
|Simple Ways to Use Essential Oils in Your Wellness Routine
Essential oils can be used in so many ways – for cleaning, for fragrancing your home, as part of your beauty and skincare routine and more. My personal favourite is to use good quality essential oils as part of my wellness routine. There are so many amazing essential oils that can work wonders for your wellbeing – Landema essential oils supplier stocks everything you need. Let’s have a look at some simple ways to use essential oils in your wellness routine.
Essential Oils for Mood Regulating
The right scents can be amazing at regulating your mood to suit the activity you are doing. If you need to boost your concentration and focus, peppermint or lavender essential oil are great choices. Or if you want to feel more alert, opt for lemon essential oil. Inhale the scents and feel how they change how you feel. There are certain blends that work amazingly to help you feel relaxed and ready for bed (usually with lavender as the main scent) and some that can help ease stress and calm your mind. You can mix the essential oils with a carrier oil in a roller dispenser and apply to your wrists for an easy on the go solution.
Essential Oil Bath & Shower Treats
My favourite way to relax at the end of a busy day is with a hot soak in the bath with some beautifully fragranced products. You can use essential oils to make your own relaxing shower and bath treats. Below are a few ideas:
- Aromatherapy bath salts: All you need is some Himalayan pink salt and/or Epsom salts and your favourite essential oils. You can also add dried flower petals to make it a bit fancier. Mix the salt and a few drops of your essential oils in a jar then your homemade aromatherapy bath salts are ready to be enjoyed!
- Aromatherapy sugar scrub: Body scrubs are really easy to make at home too. All you need is sugar, essential oils of your choice, and a carrier oil such as almond oil. Add sugar to an empty jar, add a few drops of your chosen essential oils, then top up with the carrier oil. That’s it – your homemade sugar scrub is ready to use!
- Aromatherapy shower steamers: There are lots of great recipes online for how to make DIY shower steamers with essential oils. They’re a bit more effort than the bath salts and the sugar scrub, but still easy. All you need is baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, your chosen essential oils, and some silicone moulds. You mix the dry ingredients, then mix in the essential oils. If the mixture is too dry to be mouldable, add a little bit of water or witch hazel using a spray bottle until you reach a wet sand texture. Then pack the mixture tightly into the silicone moulds and leave to dry for at least 48 hours. Store in an airtight container.
- Aromatherapy bath bomb: Making your own bath bombs at home is a similar process to making the above shower steamers. The difference is that you also usually use some kind of carrier oil to moisturise the skin, along with some Epsom salt. You also use a smaller amount of essential oil since the bath bomb goes in water that is in touch with your skin while the shower steamers are purely for aromatherapy purposes. You can find lots of fun DIY bath bomb recipes online.
Homemade Aromatherapy Massage Oil
It’s super easy to make your own aromatherapy massage oil at home to relieve muscle pain and melt away tension. Use a carrier oil of your choice (such as almond oil, grapeseed oil or jojoba oil) then add one drop of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil. Mix in a bottle and shake well to ensure the essential oil is fully diluted. You can choose your essential oil depending on what kind of massage it is intended to be used for – for example, relaxing lavender and chamomile for a massage before bedtime or peppermint, eucalyptus and rosemary to relieve sore muscles.
Essential Oils for Allergy and Congestion Relief
Another area where essential oils can be helpful is for relieving congestion symptoms caused by allergies or seasonal colds. Rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, oregano, tea tree and clary sage are all good choices for essential oils to use for this purpose. If you have a diffuser, pop a few drops of one of these oils (or a blend of them) in it to help you breathe more easily. You can also put the oils in a bowl of boiling water and inhale the steam or add a few drops to a tissue and gently breathe in.
Aromatherapy Room Spray
Last but not least, using a homemade natural room spray scented with essential oil is a great way to support your wellness at home. Your home’s fragrance is important and you can make your home smell amazing with a DIY aromatherapy room spray. All you need is a spray bottle, a cup of distilled water and about 10 drops of essential oils. Opt for relaxing scents for a linen spray to use at bedtime, fresh scents for the bathroom and energising scents that improve focus for the home office.
