As a parent of three children, I know all about the struggles of keeping children entertained. I want to provide my children with educational activities and projects that spark their curiosity and help them learn and explore new topics. Read my Tinkerer Box review to find out all about this amazing Children’s STEAM Subscription Box.
Introducing the Tinkerer Children’s STEAM Subscription Box
We’ve recently come across Tinkerer, which is an exiting new children’s STEAM subscription box range. The range includes subscription boxes for children of different ages:
- Wonder Box – Play & Learn for ages 3-5 years
- Odyssey Box – Science & Arts for ages 6-8 years
- Explore Box – Project-based STEM for ages 9-12 years
In each box, you can find engaging content, fun activities and projects to complete. You get all the materials you need and they are all high quality. With your kit, you also get a full colour learning magazine and much more in each month’s box delivered to your doorstep. You can change your line to another option from the range or cancel your subscription at any time. Though, I’m quite sure that both you and your children will love the Tinkerer Children’s STEAM subscription boxes!
Our Experience with Tinkerer Children’s STEAM Subscription Boxes
So far, we have tried two Tinkerer boxes – one Odyssey Water Blaster Box and one Explore Repeating Crossbow Box. Let’s have a closer look at these fun kits!
Tinkerer Odyssey Box – Water Blaster
The first Tinkerer box that we did was the Odyssey Box with a build your own water blaster project. This one is suitable for children aged 6 years and above. We did it as a project with all the kids but let our 7-year-old take the lead as she’s in the target age group.
The set includes everything you need (except a pair of scissors which everyone has at home). The instructions are clear. It is easy for children to follow with step by step guides and lots of illustrations.
The magazine that you get in your box is wonderful! It has lots of interesting facts and experiments to do using the materials that you have from the kit. It’s a great addition to the box.
The kids loved building their own water blaster at home with this Tinkerer Children’s STEAM Subscription Box. Additionally, the materials are great quality and the end result is a fantastic toy.
The set includes the above target which can be worn or hung up. As well as this, you also get fun stickers that have words on them that can only be seen when they have been blasted with water.
This water blaster science kit for kids also includes balloon targets and stickers to decorate them. The kids loved making these as part of the activity.
The water blaster is amazing and works so well! The science kit is lots of fun and I’m sure the children will play with the water blaster for a long time.
Tinkerer Explore Box – Repeating Crossbow
Next up, the Tinkerer Explore Box with a repeating crossbow project. This set is suitable for children aged 9 years and above.
We did the same as we did with the water blaster set and completed the project as a group activity. For this set, my eldest, aged 10, took the lead and did most of the building. Meanwhile, her sisters helped supply the materials as their job.
The materials are of excellent quality and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. This set also included some spare parts too and experiments to do whilst building your crossbow.
Additionally, this set also came with a fun science magazine full of information, as well as experiments for children to enjoy!
The finished repeating crossbow is so cool. Certainly, it impressed my eldest daughter very much. She was undeniably very proud that she build it herself too.
We re-used the targets from the above activity for this build. Just like the first box, we loved this box too. Above all, it was lots of fun to build the crossbow and the finished toy is brilliant!
Tinkerer Box Review – Conclusion
To sum up, I would highly recommend Tinkerer Children’s STEAM Subscription Boxes for parents with children in the relevant age groups.
The sets are amazing and promote important skills that children need, including:
- Curiosity in science
- Problem solving
- Imagination
- Confidence
- Fine motor skills
- Concentration
- Patience
- And more
We also love the fact that the sets are so much more than just an activity. Specifically, you can enjoy the toy that you have built long after the activity is over which is great. Likewise, you can enjoy the magazine and redo experiments afterwards too.
