The Bottle Baking Co Review
|The Bottle Baking Co Review – Handmade Cake, Cookie & Brownie Baking Mixes
I love baking and always have done since I was a little girl. Since having kids, I bake much less though. Baking with children is always Pinterest perfect in theory but often quite stressful in practice, especially when trying to bake with two kids who argue about each step and a toddler running round the kitchen… I get stressed and I struggle to work out the measurements online (translating UK or US cup measurements to milliliter or grams) when this happens.
So, for baking with kids, I prefer using a baking mix to remove one of the stressful bits! Baking mixes are not all made equal though and some can be a bit disappointing.
When I was introduced to the Bottled Baking Co, I knew they’d be baking mixes on a different level.
The Bottled Baking Co was created by Greg who wanted to simplify baking with his then 2-year-old son, adding some fun and excitement along the way with the bottle element.
The company now sells a range of fun cake, cookie and brownie baking mixes as well as seasonal varieties and baking accessories. Each bottle of baking mix is lovingly handmade in a BRC rated food kitchen in East Yorkshire. They are sold online from The Bottled Baking Co website, in retailers all over the country and in some selected shops internationally too. (You can find your local retailer on the website.)
The Bottled Baking Co has been awarded the “Small Business Sunday Award” from ex ‘Dragon’ Theo Paphitis as well as a 3 Great Taste Awards in 2017 and 2019.
Each bottle includes an easy to follow method/recipe printed on the card around the neck of the bottle. All the dry ingredients are included, and you add the wet ingredients from home (egg for some, butter/oil, milk/water).
The Bottle Baking Co Review
We have sampled some products from the Bottled Baking Co and we’re impressed! We have tried the Trio of Cookies bundle which includes three cookie mixes: Seriously Smart Cookies, Un-BEE-lievable Chocolate & Honey Cookies & Chocolate Orange Cookies. We’ve also tried the Vegan Chocolate & Walnut Brownies which my nearly 7-year-old awarded “Best Ever Brownies”.
The first baking mix we tried was the vegan Brownies one as we all love brownies and I was exited that they’re vegan as I don’t like eating eggs. We made ours in a cupcake tin as we don’t own a brownie tin (yet – it’s on my to buy list!) and they were yummy.
Next, we tried the Seriously Smart Cookies cookie mix. All kids love colourful Smarties! The kids loved getting involved with the baking and definitely enjoyed eating cookies all week. The baking mixes from the Bottled Baking Co make a generous amount. The cookie mixes can make up to 22 servings depending on how big you make your cookies. We froze a few balls or cookie dough too, to bake and enjoy another day and that worked well.
The next mix we tried was the Chocotastic Chocolate Orange Cookies. We all love the combination of chocolate and orange and the natural orange flavoured and coloured Belgian chocolate was amazing! I need to find out where to buy some of that! For this mix, I didn’t quite follow the recipe as I omitted the egg and made a large egg-less sharing cookie instead. This worked well too and was yummy. I nearly always experiment a bit with recipes – I have always been a bit of a rebel when it comes to baking and cooking.
We still have the Un-BEE-lievable Chocolate & Honey Cookies mix to try and my 4-year-old pretty much asks me if we can make them every day so I think we’ll try them during half term.
