The holidays are coming soon and one excellent way of getting into a festive mood is by playing Christmas themed games. You’re in luck because The Grinch: Christmas Adventures launched just a few weeks ago and to great reception, debuting at number 8 on the UK games sales chart, selling more than big game names like Hogwarts Legacy and Minecraft which is amazing news!

After a 16-year-break, The Grinch returns to video games with The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. The game is a retelling of Dr. Seuss’ iconic Christmas story, How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

The Grinch phenomenon began back in 1957 with the publishing of the original book and today The Grinch is still one of the most culturally celebrated and beloved holiday characters that many millions of families worldwide incorporate into their Christmas celebrations.

The Grinch is here to stay – lots of us read the original book to our children and, earlier this year, a sequel called How the Grinch Lost Christmas! was released by Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books. Let’s not forget the movies How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and The Grinch (2018) which are worldwide holiday movie favourites. The brand continues to expand, now into the world of video games and a whole new generation of fans, keeping the sprit of the classic book alive with the core elements from the book.

We have the game on Nintendo Switch which is our preferred console. Our nearly 10-year-old who is the main player in our family absolutely loves this new game! The game is suitable from 3 years and above so a great family game to enjoy together over the festive period and beyond.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures is a 2D platformer adventure game that features a timeless game design that is familiar to gamers across generations and of different skill levels. It’s easy to get started and you’re straight into the mischievous fun!

Follow along and play as the Grinch and his faithful dog Max with up to 2 player local co-op mode. As you play, you travel across Who-ville on a mission to steal all the presents and to ruin Christmas for the town, of course. Whilst doing so, you can also collect jigsaw puzzle pieces as you go through levels, then construct these to unlock new abilities to aid your schemes. These abilities include a Santa disguise for stealthy sneaking and a snowboard for faster travel between locations. Whilst playing, you also help The Grinch discover the true meaning of Christmas and make his heart grow!

In the game, there are three main locations to visit – The Grinch’s cave, the countryside and Who-ville. The visuals of the game are great – so festive, colourful, and fun! They are inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original drawings, and this provides that classic feel from the original book.

Start the holiday season early with this fun game on your favourite console! It would also make a great Christmas present for anyone who loves gaming!
