Time4Sleep’s Biggest Blanket Fort + Our Own Blanket Fort!
|Time4Sleep’s Biggest Blanket Fort + Our Own Blanket Fort!
At the end of this month, Time4Sleep, the bed and furniture company, is aiming to build the biggest blanket. The event will take place on August 29th in Leeds, with the hopes of breaking the current world record. To get inspiration for how to construct their fort, Time4Sleep challenged parenting bloggers and their kids to build their own forts at home. We’ve joined in!
Time4Sleep will sent us a box full of supplies to help us get started with our fort. This box contained some building supplies, decorations and some goodies to enjoy in the fort.
We decided to go for a cosy living room fort and built it around the sofa. My husband was in charge of the construction and we decorated together using the supplies and a few extra bits and bobs. Then we invited our daughters to see the fort and play in it. The girls added a few decorations of their own too. It made the perfect cosy blanket fort to snuggle up in and watch an afternoon film while snacking on popcorn.
The girls were so impressed and really loved having this cosy space to enjoy! We had to keep it up for quite a few days as they enjoyed it so much!
It was a great challenge to take part and a lovely family activity to do together. A blanket fort can be built pretty much anywhere in the home or the garden, the possibilities are endless! Our tips are to make a sturdy base to hang your blankets on and attach everything well with pegs. We used some large, hard cardboard strips that we had leftover from our blinds delivery and they made perfect corner pieces and support across the back too. A sturdy frame is the essential start — after that, it’s pretty much all about esthetics.
