Tips for Eating Healthy on the Go for Busy Mums | AD
As mums we often have everything sorted for the kids when heading out. Drinks bottles with water or another beverage that they like, a packed lunch, and of course all the snacks you could possibly need (and more). But do you do this for yourself? Do you ensure that you have healthy choices available for yourself when you’re heading out as a family or on your own? If your answer is no, then you’ll find some tips for eating healthy on the go for busy mums right here in this blog post.
Why You Need to be Prepared
It’s simple. If you are not prepared and equipped with healthy options you are likely to make unhealthy choices when you’re out and about. Say you haven’t packed anything for yourself to eat or drink for a day out with the kids, thinking that you’ll just grab something to eat somewhere or pick something up from a shop.
The things that will be available to you are not likely to be the healthiest foods and drinks, but instead things that are high in sugar, saturated fats, and calories while being low in fibre, healthy fats, protein, and not made with fresh fruit and vegetables. Easy, fast food on the go is usually things like greasy chips, sweet things like chocolate bars and pastries, or factory made sandwiches. If you want to ensure that you have healthy things to eat, go prepared. It will not only be good for your health, but also for your wallet as you’ll save a lot of money this way too.

How to Prepare Healthy Options
Before you go out for the day, think about what you would normally eat at home during the hours that you’ll be out and pack something similar.
For lunch, a healthy sandwich/wrap or a hearty salad make great options. For snacks and extras, you can pack fruit, vegetable batons and hummus, dried fruit and nuts, rice cakes or other healthier alternatives to crisps for example.
Pack up your chosen foods in suitable containers. I love these options from b.box:

- b.box snack box: This is the perfect snack box for busy mums (and kids too). It’s small but mighty and ideal for packing snacks to take with you on the go. It has two sealed, leak-proof compartments and will keep your snacks fresh and contained on the go. One of the sides has a flexible silicone stretch cover in the lid to allow space for fresh fruits like whole apples, small pears, clementines, etc.

- b.box insulated food jar: To keep prepared salads fresh and chilled or hot meals warm, this insulated flask is perfect! It keeps food warm for up to 5 hours or chilled for up to 7 hours. It’s ideal for lunches on the go for busy mums. It features an easy-grip carry handle, a non-slip base, and even comes with a cute built-in spork. You can also use this flask for hot or iced coffee. Having coffee with you is always a good idea!

Don’t Forget to Hydrate
When you’re heading out, your meals and snacks are important but don’t forget your insulated water bottle either. Staying hydrated on days out is so important and I know from experience that us mums often don’t prioritise this for ourselves. Get a nice insulated steel water bottle and take it with you everywhere for easy sipping on the go. There are plenty of lovely options available from b.box, including their new (and very stylish) 1L insulated flip top bottle which provides a practical solution for all-day hydration.
Collaboration.
