Weekend Box Review – An Activity Subscription Box for Children
Did you know that a third of UK parents have less than 10 hours a week to spend with their children? Weekend Box Club is a children’s activity provider and they have recently commissioned a survey with over 1200 parents to see how they spend time with their children. The survey has some really interesting findings!
Modern life is busy and with work and home responsibilities, parents struggle to juggle modern day living and spending quality time with their children. 88% of the parents questioned wish that they had more quality time to spend with their children.
One of the biggest challenges seems to be lack of inspiration as 74% of parents say that they are struggling to come up with ideas for activities to do with their children. 94% of parents agree that having easy access to ideas and resources would enable them to spend more quality time together. This would really help the 59% that think it takes too long to plan activities — so long that they run out of time to actually do them!
Weekend Box Club creates activity subscription boxes that contain two or four activities. The boxes are slim to fit through your mailbox so that you don’t have to worry about missing your delivery. You choose to have your Weekend Box on a fortnightly or monthly basis. You can also order individual boxes to your own address or send to a little one you know.
Each box has a new theme which is lots of fun! There are how to sheets for the parents and children to follow together as they do the activities. The activities covered are make, bake, create and explore and the aim is to help parents spend quality time with their children (aged 3-8) by doing the crafts suggested in the box.
The Weekend Box solves many of the problems identified by the survey and is a great tool for parents to use to help make time for quality time with their kids.
We had a Weekend Box delivered a couple of weeks ago and my four-year-old loved it! She was really excited when it arrived in the post and we soon scheduled in an afternoon of fun doing the activities in the box. The box we had had the theme Dangerous Dinosaurs which was a great fit and my daughter is a fan of dinosaurs!
The activities included were:
- Making a Dino Hatchling.
- Baking Dino Egg Nests (Chocolate Rice Krispie Buns with Mini Eggs).
- Making Dinosaur Claws to wear on your own hands.
- Making a Clothes Peg Dinosaur that can open its mouth.
The things needed for each activity is packaged into its own colour co-ordinated paper bag to make it easy to see what’s for what.
All the activities were lots of fun to do and the creations were played with a lot afterwards too. The Rice Krispie buns were a huge hit too!
You get stickers to put in the instruction books when you’ve finished each activity and at the bottom of the box, there’s a diploma that you can colour in when you’ve completed the whole Weekend Box. Read more about the Weekend Box Club subscription service here.
